I am officially excited.

Just ordered a “RileyLink” - the little bit of tech that means my Libre+MiaoMiao will talk to my Omnipod and turn it into an artificial pancreas loop  Should be here in time for the school holidays, and it’s my summer project to put it all together, write the app and iron the kinks out in time for starting uni in September.

Looping here I come!

Ho hum hidley hi do (looks like another of @Scott-C off shore accounts I have just hacked :hilarious: )

Dang, you did it again!

Seeing as you can guess every password I come up with, I've decided it's safer for me to withdraw all my remaining savings you haven't nicked yet, and invest in buying several thousand tins of John West mackerel and Baxters soup and store them in my basement - those puppies will hold their value much more for barter when the £ collapses and society goes into general meltdown post-Brexit....

Will have to look for some canned version of cake too..

Winner, Mel!

I'm still on mdi, but I have a glance at looping stuff now and then - I'll probs be on a pump at some point, and I'd definitely be looking at loop stuff then.

One thing which worries me a bit, though, is that some of the stuff I've read says that loop is good with dexcom, but maybe not so much with libre/mm because that combo is a bit of a hack which can throw fliers, for example, the absence of thermistor info and so on.

And at the same time, there's been plenty of folks saying, yep, libre/mm is fine to loop with.

Is there any sort of consensus in the looping world about whether it's ok with libre/mm or is dex preferred?

Thank you so much for starting it, Robs.

I was going to suggest we get some Twiglets and Ritz crackers out for the party, but even that might be controversial!

From what I’ve read, as long as you calibrate/check bg regularly (not a problem for me as legally I need to check at least twice a day as a condition of a group 2 licence) it should be alright.

In other news, it’s gone eleven, I’m mildly inebriated and I need to change both my pod and Libre. Oops.

I started on the Medtronic 670G system yesterday.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!

At 11.21 tonight, there was an alert saying sensor was updating and it could take 3 hours. At 11.26 another alert said the sensor wasn't working properly and to insert new sensor.

Everything had been going so well today, with blood tests close to sensor readings, so I was surprised and disappointed . . . especially at this time of night. I have inserted new sensor and it looks like I'll have to calibrate around 2am. So much for progress!

Hi, i wish you good luck with your decision on the study.

Interestingly, My mum has Alzheimers. a couple of the multiple tests they ran on her involved identifying "clip art" pictures?
This is where it get's interesting... I was present at these tests. (moral support.) I also had to fill out a questionnaire knowing the patient for many years.. Stuff like change in character, bursts of aggression. LOL, if anything, My Mum is more chilled & relaxed. Yes there are cognitive issues. (lucky for my mum, there hasn't been any progression in the last 6 years?)

Any hooo.. My mum was required to draw on a circle the big & little hands of a clock signifying ten to four? Pretty good bearing in mind there were no markings on this circle signifying any reference for hours & mins.

Then there was clip art black & white photocopied drawings of a generic crown, barrel & a lizard on a sheet of A4, which she needed to identify.
She peers at the drawings.& in turn, gets them right...

HOWEVER. My mum called the lizard a "lizard." I mentally called it out as a Salamander, maybe a Gecko? (it was a generic lizard shape with a long tail & the head of a snake.)
Close enough call from my mum for me!

Something like this..

There were two consultants in attendance. No they said, "its a crocodile."
"Really," i replied, "I'm no David Attenborough, so you had better diagnose me too!"

"Ah." One consultant whispered. "Sometimes relatives or spouses will cover for the patient's condition."

Pulling up a generic image on my smartphone browser i informed this medical professional,

This is a crock...

If we're having a party, @Mel dCP and I could cook some stuff. So could @Robinredbreast . That way we'll have stuff to eat :hungry:

Also - we'll need a few bottles of this and that, and some music. Gotta have music. So - we'll need lists of fave party music please? :singing:

@helensaramy. It is a conundrum. I’m afraid staying awake all night is something I did many times in my youth, but now I find anything beyond 10pm a trial lol!
And no no free carb snacks. I always used to eat an apple at morning break when working, but when I got a Libre and actually saw what was happening I was horrified.
Am not on a big dose and have got it down to 7. For the past fortnight, not one hypo in the night, and a lovely straight line. No hypos in the day either but constantly putting in extra bolus to stop it rocketing.
Am wondering if a change of basal might help. Am on Toujeo. I bet if I could stay awake it would go up too. Unfortunately I seem to be one of these people for whom exercise in any shape or form just makes me rise. No walking round the block to help lower things for me, it only makes matters worse. The only physical effort that makes my levels drop is vacuuming. For goodness sake!

Happy Saturday all. Back from wet Lincolnshire and having a relaxing lie in before meeting up with our son, daughter in law and grandson for brunch. He is 2 on Sunday and they are taking him off to the coast, so meeting up today.
Whilst away I couldn’t be bothered to put a new Libre on. Have to spray shed loads of Cavillon on to create a barrier and then cover. So have been back to finger pricking. On the one hand it has been strangely liberating, on the other what use is a random number without a direction arrow. It tells you very little. Back on it today!

@helensarmay - what a PITA!!

I am still brain dead from a totally knackering week, and couldn't think of anything for breakfast. Settled on toast & marmite. Bodes well for the day .....

I have no plans that I can remember, and I can't think of anything we actually need to do other than take the dogs out. Let's hope tomorrow brings my brain back to life!

Woke to a 7.9 today, higher than I'd like but hopefully knocked on the head with a breakfast correction. I'm off today to a local specialist plant sale held in the grounds of a privately-owned country house. It's run every year for charity and the setting is beautiful; they also have fabulous plants and (though I realise this won't be exciting for everyone) hot bacon rolls and cake (stands well back to avoid being pushed out of the way by @Knikki & @porl69 - btw, it's sunny enough for a frock today;))
