Sorry not been around for awhile. Although have been lurking.
Alot has happened over the past few weeks.
At last I had my op to remove the white patches on my vocal chords two weeks ago. That went well although my voice is still like a whisper. I see the voice speech specialist on thursday.
Last week I saw the eye people. They don't feel that my squint is causing any issues re my balance. I go back in two months is to have further eye to walking tests just confirm that. Then if that is ok, then go on the waiting lists to have the squint repaired.they did say, as my squint is my lazy eye and only slight sight in it, they would normally say no to the repair as it's classed as being cosmetic. The consultant said as the neurologist had referred me, then the eye dept said they will get round the op somehow.
Next week, I see the neuro physio for an assessment to see if they can suggest anything to help my walking because of the neuropathy and ataxia.
Now the best part. Week before last, I had a knock at my door, it was my gp. I had no idea he was coming to do a home visit. He has had his knuckles well slapped. He did a thorough check over me, as he also had a report about the throat op.
I am well over due for my HbA1c test but unable at the moment to go for that as my legs just would not get me there and back.
Thank you all for encouraging me to be forceful to get where I am now

Oh ally you have achieved all of this yourself. :)I am in awe at how you have persevered against all the knocks and setbacks you have had. Thanks for sharing. I just wish I could find the same sort of drive to keep on keeping on like you have. I have said this before but I am saying it again. I'm proud of you girl!

Hi,
Glad your op went well, in my area Gp surgeries can arrange for a nurse or phlebotomist to visit you at home.
Ring your surgery and enquire.
Hope you feel better very soon
Take care

I was wondering how you are, such good news about your op and its success.......and that they are going to sort out your squint at long last, regardless of it being cosmetic it will be such a boost to your self esteem.....
I hope the neuro people can help with your walking .........about time they came onside for you.
I love the idea of your GP grovelling to you.....you have deserved so much more respect from him than he gave and at last he has to take notice of you......
Like Zand I am so proud of the way you have stuck to your guns and fought your corner......we may have encouraged you but it was your will power and determination that's carried you here.........my deepest respect to you for your courage to face whatever life has thrown at you up to now........long may you continue to slap life back.
You are awesome and inspirational......a lot of whinging "winnies" should take a leaf out of your book......

Poor grammar, bullying and drunks.
Ally you are a complete and utter Star! Well done for never giving up even in the face of a GP that can't see past his own ego.
Keep up the great work.

So pleased you’ve stuck at it and coped too with an operation that couldn’t have been at all easy - all demonstrates just how far you’ve travelled and in the right direction. All down to you and your perseverance. Love the idea of your GP having to grovel.
Good luck Ally but you’re doing an amazing job taking charge of your own health and may bea good idea to ask about them coming out to do your bloods as they do I believe if you are having problems - wortha queryanyway while you are on a roll go girl x

Thank you.
I have my dentist to thank for referring me to ENT about my throat because for 17 years, my gp just kept saying it was because I snore. I do feel that my gp now realised he should have done something before about my voice/throat

Oh boy, @ally1 , I'd like to mark your OP winner multiple times.

AT LAST! Yes, at last you seem to be being recognised as you should have been all along.

Be very proud of what you've done. I doubt you are the only one had this lack of treatment from your GP. I do hope they are also being treated better now too.

Yes, be proud, Ally.

I do feel with my gp, when the report from ENT op was seen by my gp, he had a guilty complex plus I do feel he had been spoken too

Looking back over the years. When I first joined the surgery, I weighed almost 25 stone. In my eyes, I was a perfect candidate for being T2.
Until my psych had originally request a HbA1c to be done 5 years ago as he knew with the size I was, then most certainly diabetic. So I spent 12 years even longer, most likely had been diabetic then but was never tested. So am not surprised that neuropathy most likely started before I knew anything
