Colds and flu I get and usually feel under par but usually cope ok. Over the years I have had some strange ones for instance a sore throat was going around I developed quinsy which kept me out of action a week another time a similar virus going aroung I developed chronic fatigue lasted for 5 years.

Before diabetic colds and flu never bothered me if I caught at all once a diabetic I felt it more chicken pox i was out of action 2 weeks and people thought i had been in car crash on return to work.

So I would say some bugs hit us harder i.e chicken pox try keeping control at good readings and trying to eat also in some cases i use to inject and wait hours just to eat to ensure optimum control.

Being ill is a big pain control wise as its all trial and error in real time situ.

People whose attitude says "Me, my opinion, my desire is greater and more important than anyone else"

And to whom the principle of ahimsa is a closed book that they refuse to open because it would make life more difficult for them.
One thing I was told - if you are immuno suppressed at all, try and avoid putting your hands directly on the supermarket trolley handle. Wear gloves, or use a wipe on the handle. Just watch people cough and sneeze into their hands and then put their hands on the trolley handle ..... it grosses me out.

Also the door handle out of the loo in the supermarket - all those total oiks who don't wash their hands touch that handle .... (also the cubicle door handle - yuk!)

At one stage I had to take a shower using tea-tree wash when I got home from being out (I was on chemo at the time) and whether or not it helped I don't know but I only had one chest infection during the whole year!

My father never used to get colds, and I haven't had one now for probably half my life - BUT since first reading this thread I've had a few mad sneezey sessions and a very runny nose - definitely neither a cold nor hay fever, so what have you done to me @Brunneria?? :bag:

I had a bad dose of flu as a young teenager, but until I was diagnosed with T2 I tended to skip annual flu jabs after a bad reaction to one, but I do now get one every year.

The only thing I do currently get is a bad cough every winter - I used to have this as a child but grew out of it, until it came back one summer about 14 years ago -a couple of years after I retired - I'd cough until I was sick, and it only cleared up after my GP arranged for me to see a specialist, at which point I had a miracle cure...They eventually put it down to whooping cough, which I'd already had as a very young child. But it now comes back every winter minus vomiting - I think the cold air probably triggers it (and it's worse if I'm stressed out), but I'm certainly not ill or take anything for it, and haven't seen any increase in glucose levels from it.

I have never had the flue jab despite being t2 diabetic for almost ten years now.
Until this year all I had was mild colds which were not really anything more than an inconvenience.
This year I came down with type A flue and this was a different kettle of fish altogether. I was bed bound for more than a month with fever, body aches, headaches and dry cough. In the end I even had to take cortisone for it.

So from now on it's the flue jab for me

I had a stinker of a cold at the beginning of this year. It was a nasty virus. This was the first cold since I finished work - nearly 20 years ago. I have never had flu. I have had the flu jab every year since I was eligible, and I had the pneumonia one as soon as I was eligible. I even managed to escape a cold when I was on chemo with a compromised immune system - I followed the same principles mentioned by @WuTwo . We even had hospital quality hand wash by the front door for anyone calling.

Chest infections every year without fail before I took proper control and I was always catching colds when in the bus but ever since this year? Nothing. Maybe a snuggle but no infection or colds. It’s something that plagued me since my teens with my colds, flus and infections but even now with my Gran and Dad ill with cold I’m not even getting a twinge :D

I didn't get a head cold this year, this is the first year I went weekly to a little mobile sauna that parks in the mountains beside a river. We do the sauna(80-100degrees)and dip in the river(5-8 degrees). The shock shifts the head colds right outta my body! I get the flu jab yearly, yes I felt a bit off for a couple of days but didn't develop temperature/head cold.
