My auto correct has gone crazy today.

When I typed in husband cooks most of our meals it suggested Labradors instead of meals.

Even more disturbing than the Panorama programme.

Are you Married to @alf_Josiah ......:wideyed::***:

;)

Agree the post was a timely reminder of the reasons i started this Woe..and serve to keep me on track, in times to come, please god.:)

Shas I've never used Onglyza only metformin since diagnosis...I do know that when I reduced & then stopped taking the metformin it took a couple of weeks for the effect to show...possibly the same with your medication?...don't get too hung up about it...these issues can take a while to settle back down...as you say discuss it with your doctor...then you can make an educated choice whether to restart the meds or not.

Thanks Bubbsie... i agree.. stopping the medication will show impact after a few days and I must be at that stage... i was hoping my increased walking and lower carbs may help but clearly a lot more tweaking would be necessary if I want to stick to just metformin.... I will continue monitoring and I also think I maybe getting a cold which probably links to higher numbers... thanks again... keeping an eye on the numbers without obsessing

while on the subject of exercise, i did read ( @Jim Lahey i believe led me too it,) that resistance training was best for using up the sugars/glucose to get lower numbers.

It was then that i upped my game to include more weights then running.

(i kind of see it as an alarm or call to arms for the sugar as the muscles scream out for energy.asap
which kind of makes sense, the muscles need energy, and the body responds. )

However the reason i post is that mentality, made me start taking one of the wife's resistance bands on holiday and now to work.
Found it a nice easy alternative to carrying large weights around, and looking like (more of ) a loon running on spot when i can't get out for a walk/etc.

Cheap as chips, flexible & easy to transport around.

Use mine like weight training, standing up, but have used it while sat watching TV, whiling away 10 minutes or so.
Might be worth considering, for one or two.
Thanks jj for the long post and info...I will give it some thought re resistance bands if things dont improve. Gym training etc is really alien to me, the only exercise other than housework and gardening is a good walk but not so inclined on my own. I did look into a walking group in my area but they mostly do really long distances plus I have to travel to the start.

She, like the above, said it was fluid retention and gave me yet another tablet to take. And said I should walk more. But that made things worse.
gennepher reading your post makes me so cross & disappointed...why on earth won't those charged with our care listen to us...we are not medics however no one will know our diabetes as we do...thank goodness you were proactive & got the supports for your feet...I had similar problems with my GP & the DSN...after seeing him for the last three years I managed to give him some insight into T2 diabetes & things much improved...whereas the DSN was simply an immoveable force so I no longer see her...heart breaking to hear how some have been damaged by such casual careless advice.

@gennepher the way
The way you have and are managing your health is admirable. It is just crazy that you were advised to do the opposite than what was actually required. It just proves to me once again that we all need to take control of our own welfare insofar as is possible. Well done you for persevering and making the improvements in your feet and being so vigilant. You really are a very inspiring lady the way you cope with all the challenges that come your way.

good afternoon all :)

was 4.9 this morning

unusually for me I slept in this morning and then we were out in the garden trying out the new strimmer before it rained again...which it did...copiously :hilarious:

never mind at least we got some of the jungle trimmed ;) it's amazing how fast the weeds grow when you can't keep on top of them :sorry:

Hope your day is treating you kindly :)

@gennepher ... You really are a very inspiring lady the way you cope with all the challenges that come your way.

This is so very true.. i am less than a year on this journey and oftentimes feel so down that I keep wondering if I can ever manage to live a bit of a stress free life... then i read your experiences and it is very inspiring to say the least.

Mrs. S reminds me ‘look at your mom’ and see your friends on the forum- and stop being a wet blanket... and I get some hope... my mom is 86, lives by herself (my sister is next door) and has lived with diabetes for as long as I can remember. Last week in her medical check up the doctor told her - all your numbers are good and she keeps telling everyone how impressed the doctor was .... anyway thanks to all of you for showing us newbies how to be strong and take control of our lives

It has taken me some time to get to this point.

I was telling them what I was doing, and they were saying it was wrong, and I should be doing it their way. And so I did at one point, because they insisted they were the specialists and the ones that had done the medical trainings etc

There is one specialist I won't see now. I stood up to him. And finally walked out. It was unpleasant. He was quite aggressive to me.

I know my own body. I know how to find out things now. I know how to listen to my own body, and attempt to work with my own body.

Morning all, I must apologise for me being missing of late I have had to study for a NEBOSH fire safety Management and Risk Assessment exam for the last few weeks, but sat my exam last week (didn't go well but can resit in December). any way a 7.9 greeted me on the meter of doom this morning, which is better than the last couple of weeks.

Take care everyone.

Wow, that sounds hairy (the exam not the 7.9, which sounds great considering the exam). I Googled it out of curiosity. Woof. Early good luck wishes for December!

I agree. I think it’s a bit of a waste when you have to accept things like bread, and then discard it. It’s all the sauces and dressings that I detest - and baked beans - nothing worse than baked beans juice contaminating my otherwise low carb breakfast.

Couldn’t agree more about baked beans at breakfast. Whoever thought that was a good idea???

Good morning and happy Monday everyone from our static caravan in the land of the damp and overcast. I have just hear what sounds like a large predator wandering over the roof and although it sounds like panther, it’s going to be a crow or an overstuffed pigeon.

Ate out last night: “can I have the chicken burger with melted cheese but without the sauces or the fancy brioche and with a salad instead of the chips but without the house dressing. Oh! Also, do you have olive oil?” - not a problem.

The wonder wheel of indulgence and retribution registered a flat 5.0

I have just spotted the teppanyaki grill on a shelf over the cooker extractor fan so it’s a DIY cooking frenzy on the deck tonight. Will we need umbrellas?

It was a liver bird. Apparently they deliver liver to caravan-dwellers to ensure plenty of iron and protein is included in the deck diet.

Thank you.
And thank you for your compliments.

We do all need to take control, but I can understand it is not easy for many people because of all the environmental stuff, as well as outdated, outmoded so called specialist care, and also people's perceptions.

But we all need to find ways of over riding all that, if we want our bodies to be healthy as possible.

I really don't understand why more cannot be done sooner. It's like they (the medical profession) has to wait until the 'problem/s' you have have to wait almost to the point of no return before they can do something.

I want my body to be healthy as it is possible to be. And that does seem to me, that it includes being particularly vigilant.

I am no angel, I can slip, but I am back on that path before I have fallen down now.

Thank you...but really I am just a cantankerous, bl**dy minded old lady who will do her own thing... :angelic:

We are all here to support each other.
The forum and threads help us realise we are not alone, and that out journey is an individual one. But we can learn from others.
And have a bit of chat at the same time!

After endless worrying about high numbers all day, after a light dinner and a 30 minute walk my number is 7.0 ... happy for now.... I think I was just not walking enough during the day today... when i look at my phone it recorded less than 6000 steps all day, mostly after dinner... while on a good day I manage at least 10K if not 12k.... so walking walking walking......

Thanks everyone for all the positive support

Now hopefully a good 7 hours of sleep and fingers crossed for morning FBG number!!!
