Hope you guys don't mind me joining in. I'm in my 2nd week since being diagnosed and have lost a good 12kg using a high fat low carb diet. I'm really pleased but have a long way to go yet.

I want to lose another 86kgs, currently 191kgs

Feeling a little deflated this morning, Sundays are my chosen in weigh in day, I'd weighed myself early this week because I was excited to see what was happening. So between now and then I've gained 2.3kgs it seems.

Not sure what I've done wrong tbh, apart from the zero calories fruit creations squash with my meals I haven't cheated once.

Everything is cooked from scratch in this house, the fiancée loves to cook properly and sticks to low carb recipes and I'm still only eating a fraction of what I did pre diagnosis.

Hoping its just a blip.

No loss or No Gain. Just maintaining as usual :).
(Seeing Liver Specialist this morning, so see what weight they come up with?)

74 Kg today Have been a bit lax lately so been putting on weight have to decide where I want to go from here I'm roughly in the acceptable weight range for my hight so would probably not be a disaster if I stayed roughly where I am if I want to lose weight I would have to stay low carb no problem there but would also have to restrict calories to about 600 to 800 a day also and don't know if I want to go through that again for an indefinite time.

Vidar - I saw some food you posted up a few days ago, and it seemed as if, although low carb, there was quite a bit of it.

Many folks, when they go LC, don't have to be at all concerned about calories, but others do. Whilst a pizza is ver high carb, and thereby may not be the a friend to the T2, it could amount to fewer calories if there's a lot of fat being taken in over the day.

I know you have posted about this annoying weight gain in thre past, but do you keep a food diary? Do you have a record of what you have eaten in recent days? And finally (thank godness you ay), have you fed your food into a health/nutrition app to see what it all adds up to?

I'm mindful we are beginning to deflect this thread, so if you want to discuss it, you could start a new thread and I can move this post to it?

Well Done Everybody :).

Hey @ickihun, great to hear your good news on your weight loss since your surgery. How are you feeling. I hope you are keeping hydrated...that is so important following your op! Keep going and take things easy whilst you recover. Hope you are doing well since coming home. x

Most of my meds are needing to be in water, for now. I have water sips on top and very loose yogart or slushy scrambled egg. I have blended fish+veg, chicken leg meat+veg and loose mash potato. For my ice cube portions.

Wow @ickihun, you are doing so well with your tolerance of foods/liquids. I was only allowed liquids for the first 4 weeks, then pureed/sloppy foods for another 4 weeks, then "lumpy" foods for the next 4 weeks, then normal diet after that. You're doing just great! x

It's great to see people's weight going in the right direction.

Weighed myself this morning and am down to 194.8kg from 196.1kg last Thursday. And that's with a takeaway (I was really good though mixed kebab no sauces or pita) and the introduction of a bar of 85% dark cocoa chocolate at night if I remember. Been craving more of that juice this week but refusing to get any more.

I've lost 6.8kgs in a week after surgery. I'm 123.50kg this morning. :) :) :)
Obviously I'm on low calorie, low fat and low carb diet.
I could eat similiar without op but was starving, all the time. Not now.
I hope that feeling never comes back.
It was hell at times. Before op I was eating to lose weight but constantly having to fight 'rubbish' foods when hungry. Not an easy feat.... permanently.
So here I am and not hungry and can eat small amount of decent food. No room for anything sugary. Mind u I hear dumping syndrome is like your dying so I won't even go there.
Kids still offer me their sweets and snacks but I say "I'm full" .
My half a moon crescent stomach is healing as we speak. Stapled and sutured.

I'm a happy bunny as my hospital stay was very sociable and I met a new friend. I walked up and down ward but looked like I was only female bariatric patient but it was only guess work. My pocket of five other ladies was very respectful and we all slept alot. Morphine helped with first few days. Tramadol and dihydrocodeine with paracetamol, now.

I'm soooooo excited about what my weight loss will be next Friday.
Hallelujah!!!!
Ive found something stable to help me lose weight.
Definitely worth the wait for painkillers to do their thing.
At last I'm going to be free of this BMI 44-50.

Happy losing everyone! :)

Thx @Geordie lass. Did you lose in 1st week?

Hi @ickihun, funny you should ask as I was just looking at my old weight loss charts from my post surgery weeks in 2014. I kept my records for all weekly weight loss until February 2015, when I hit my goal and lost 8 stone! I dropped 8lbs in the first week, 7lbs in the second week, then averaging 3-4lbs a week thereafter. Post surgery I started my LCHF lifestyle to assist with my diabetes, which worked well with the weight loss too. I also got back into my running and was steadily running 5k, 3 x per week. I maintained at 10.5 stone for about 18 months then dropped another 2 stone, but that's another story!!!! I've since gained back that 2 stone now, so back to 10.5 stone!

How are you feeling now...8 days post op? Remember to keep yourself hydrated and not to overdo things. I know that's hard when you have a family to take care of, but you must listen to your body. Take care x
