Hugs for the potential hay fever. I think this year is worse than last year. Not causing me the coughing and wheezing issues but playing havoc with my joint problems. Like you not something I have suffered with before and no problem last year. Take care.

Interesting you mention joint problems. I didn't know that hay fever could affect joints. My knees, back, neck and finger joints (which are normally painful but just about bearable) have been badly playing up since this 'cold' started - I just put it down to being under the weather but, thinking about it, it might have started before.

Is your joint pain arthritis? TBH I think mine is payback for years of (year round) motorbike riding and weight training.

Mine is gout. which is usually triggered by an illness or over training and not enough hydration. The last 2/3 weeks have been a problem but manageable with good food choices, naproxen and gallons of fluid. On Monday all seemed well - big mistake. Coffee is best avoided at these times for me as are many lchf friendly foods. The coffee on Monday plus turkey and steak of the last 2 days have resulted in major problems - huge swollen right knee like a major sporting injury.
ETA: I have eaten ox tongue frequently this summer and offal should be avoided.:banghead:

Ouch! My ex BIL and ex FIL both had gout and both were, at times, almost completely disabled with it. Both, luckily, worked for a government department and had a good amount of time as sick entitlement allowance. They were both sporty and I always wondered if that had anything to do with it. I think their fondness for 'real ale' definitely had something to do with it.

I have not drunk beer for years and have had no alcohol since Boxing Day. Normally very wary around alcohol since end of cricket and rugby days. First time I was diagnosed was in mid 20s during a period of intense training. Oddly enough weight then around what it is now.

I have a question to those of you who use frozen cauliflower and/or broccoli ‘rice.’
I thought it would be easier if I make some for the freezer. Has the rice been cooked- tossed in butter or blanched before freezing? I was wondering which would be best. Before I grate up a whole cauliflower and head of broccoli.

@@SlimLizzy - glad to read your OH is improving although you certainly have your problems to bear. @Chook - it had to be Jack!
Reading about the leg/joint issues, mine are actually OK today. Just been to a very energetic Aqua Zumba class and my legs are strangely good. They'll deteriorate again (as mine are due to spinal cord injuries) but hey! Enjoy it while I can. Anyway, back to Tuesday. It was Hubby's birthday so he's joined OSAHDWGHC (I have a few more years to go). We were going out with SIL & BIL as they were flying out early on Wednesday morning to pick up the cruise in Rome. Finally got them checked in for Ryanair flight and documents printed.
B. TAG with ADOC. Slice of skinny bread, boiled ham and Philadelphia.
L. Nothing
D. Out for Hubby's birthday - early because in laws heading for the airport a 3.30am.
Started with squid and chimichurri and a little salad. 8oz rump with chimichurri again, portobello mushroom, little bit salad , asparagus and broccoli. A brandy coffee.

Great food, lovely evening, then got a text from SIL at 11pm - just got an email from cruise company - cruise cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances. After a bit of digging discovered ship was still in Barcelona with 2400 on board due to fly home from Rome. Meantime most of another 2400 were heading to Rome. They were due to meet another 3 couples in Rome - 1 was already there, another was at Heathrow and the final couple had already flown from Abu Dhabi and were about to start next leg. None of them knew about the cancellation. They've said they'll refund their cruise cost so looks like it will be insurance for everything else. Won't forget this birthday in a hurry!

You begin to see why I'm on catch up. Wednesday - I had the boys for a while yesterday. Today they're at home as I attempt to help to salvage something from the bad news yesterday. Unsuccessful on Wednesday but a bit more hope today. Just trying to fit something restful in to take them to 17/18 July when they'll be back in Devon before slowly heading North to meet up with us again. Things cancelled - too late for Ryanair. SIL upset (not surprisingly) but now travel agent in Australia thinks she can get them on another cruise out of Budapest on Sunday. Won't know until tomorrow though - kind of late in Australia currently. Bed 6.7 FBG 7.7
B. TAG with ADOC. Slice skinny bread with Philadelphia and ham.
L. Nothing
D. Meat'zza pizza with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, 1/2 avocado and Helmans. Raspberries, strawberries and cream.

Tomorrow is another day

How do make sure the cauliflower rice isn't soggy? It always seems to be too wet for my liking. I did see a TV cheffy programme which suggested wringing the rice out in a tea towel, but my hands aren't strong enough for that. What does everyone else do?

And now today. Bed 6.7 FBG 7.4 although they're up and down like a yoyo. Should hear from Australia tomorrow so they're here until Sunday at least. Meantime looking for backup plans just in case.
B. TAG with ADOC. Slice of skinny bread with pate.
L. Was at Aqua Zumba then off to collect the boys who are here until 6pm. Had them yukking because I ate a small plate of fresh anchovies, pickled red pepper, roasted artichoke and Honduran prawns.
D. Tonight will be the other half of the meat'zza with salad.
Need to get a bottle or two of LC Baileys made. I think everyone needs it.
Boys are on their favourite macaroni with 'bits' which can be almost anything. Tonight it us peas, broccoli, mushrooms and pancetta.

@gennepher happy special birthday for tomorrow hope you enjoy the day
@PenguinMum happy birthday for next Monday
@ianpspurs sorry you’re suffering again
Change over day for my libre sensor now on my second one building up a full month of info. This one like the first seems very close to my finger pricking - just did a couple of comparisons and little difference so another two weeks of fewer finger pricking apart from my weekly ketones test.
Breakfast bacon and egg
Lunch mix of smoked salmon, half advocado mixed with lemon juice and advocado oilserved withcelery
Dinner two lamb chops with cauliflower cheese and mushrooms withsmall glass of red wine followed by sf jelly a few home grown strawberries and yoghurt.
Also had lots of mugs of peppermint tea throughout the day.
Wonderful evening out there have planted lots today so needto get out watering later.

I stir fry it from raw. I don't boil or steam. Treat it the sane as fried rice. I put chopped spring onion in it, peas and a beaten egg sometimes after I've added Tamari soy to it.

Lots of Holy Basil tea today as I’m a bit off regular tea at the moment .

1100 - some cheese and a couple of slices of cooked chicken.

Dinner: roasted radish with onion and bacon topped with a parmesan crust. Braised bok Choi with herbs.
Pudding - yep, kefir and berries.
A lovely, crisp, white wine - Zig Zag White from the English winemakers Denbies in Surrey, spotted in Aldi for about a fiver.

okra. Cigarette smoke, old, new, and permeating a room, wafting from a balcony, etc etc. That I have so many chronic diseases. That I take so very many meds. Being cold. Anything too loud, but specifically non-classical music and the television.
@zauberflote - welcome back again and why are you disappearing again on Monday? .

...because real life starts again and I have to choose my time priorities very very carefully to avoid stressfully high levels of high stress. Something has to give, and this here is sort of an optional activity when compared to sleeping, working, exercising, Mom-ing. Then there are the non-negotiables of my own very lengthy toilette Am&PM,+ specialized cat feeding. Those two things alone take about 3 hours out of the day. No cats on vacation, and sometimes no working. Often not enough sleeping! Life as it is.
