Today I had a review of my last HbA1c result and my diabetic condition. This time it was with a nurse that specialised in diabetes. I was interested to see what she had to say.
She said that I was doing well. I explained how I arrived at blood sugar levels that were normal. She smiled and nodded knowingly when I mentioned my own lchf freindly GP and Dr David Unwin. It turned out she was comfortable with lchf but still seemed to gravitate a bit towards the “balanced diet” that Eatwell comprises. As if she couldn’t let go of Eatwell. She tried to encourage me not to go too low on carbs. It was as if things are changing but slowly, like a thawing of snow and ice in a heavy winter.
I explained what I ate now including full fat dairy produce and we discussed my last cholesterol readings which were spot on. She said that she was worried I would get bored on a limited range of foods. I explained that it was best that way to avoid the onset of diabetic symptoms again. After reviewing my weight losses and drops in blood pressure and corresponding medication she said I could have a 6 monthly HbA1c. I had to ask for that and checked with her that I hadn’t misunderstood or misheard her. And for that I was pleased.
