Hi all, recently I movet to live in UK. I registered successfully at local GP, I have access to SystmOnline. I use insulin Levemir Flexpen and Novorapid Flexpen. How do I write insulin request correctly, in this field (attached below)? I need 2 boxes each per month. I ask here because my doctor is on holiday, and somebody told me I can requiest prescription in SystemOnline. Thank you.

It's attached a screenshot from SystmOnline

You will need to talk to someone at the doctors as only a doctor (or prescribing nurse) can prescribe insulin. Just writing down what you want won't mean you'll get it, you will need an appointment of some kind to get all the correct medications added to your repeat prescription - if your specified doctor is on holiday then another doctor at the surgery would be able to get this sorted for you. If your current insulin is running out book an emergency appointment.

Thank you, I have some reserves for aprox 1 month, I'll go to them in the morning.

With these online systems, once the doctor has seen you they will put the specific item, dose, and amount on your repeat prescription, then it just a case of ticking the box for what you want. Ask for your insulin, needles, testing strips, and lancets all on your repeat.

Edit: adding a pic of my online system, it’s just checking the boxes of the items you want.

I haven't seen a doctor about my diabetes for years! My surgery has a Specialist Diabetes Nurse and even then I only see her once a year for my annual review and sometimes I haven't seen her at the six month review, only being called in if they aren't happy with my blood results. It has been the Diabetes Nurse who had occasionally suggested adjustments to my insulin but it has been down to me to adjust them as I am very sensitive to Novorapid and if I had injected one dose suggestion that was made to me I would have had a severe hypo. Perhaps rather than asking for a doctor you could ask if your surgery has a Specialist Diabetes Nurse and see her instead.

I agree re getting a hospital consultant appointment. A nurse attached to a Gp no matter how good, is still aligned to the finances of that Gp. A consultant is more likely to change medication to more up to date stuff and write to a Gp requesting them to do so. GPs surgeries are resistant to change things as they are strapped for cash.
