Morning friends, I’m waking up later and later as time goes by. But diabetes seems to enjoy the lay in, 6.5 on waking.
@becca59 I didn’t read the job process document, so a fitness test is needed. I applied to join the UK border force, as an apprentice though. A bad back is awful, I hope you are okay now.

Ooh I know a woman who set out in that job when young. It has been a very good, rewarding career.

Wow. I survived. Thanks for your messages of support. I was at work and injected under my desk without raising my head from what I was working on, no one was any the wiser, and the sky didn't fall in. I wish I didn't have such an active imagination.
Have a specialist appointment at 5.30 pm. Am still trying to sell him LCHF, and injecting for 50% protein and counting all carbs, which means trace ketones. Wish me luck. But I am eating more carbs on weekends. Just to keep him off my back.

afternoon all just back from pump clinic and what a waste of time ive now decided to get omnipod pump as was previously told i couldnt have this as i used fiasp but diffrent dn said you can so thats on order instead of ypso asked about my carb to insulin ratios which havent changed since last week when i seen consultant and that was it told to come bk in 9 weeks but if pump came they would phone me as 3 others waiting also the mind boggles it takes months ....dont get me wrong i am grateful to be accepted its just the length of time from acceptance to actually pumping rant over :arghh:

@karen8967 good news about the pump. It may be a pain having to wait a few months BUT it will be worth it. I was told mine would take about 3 months to get a place on a pump course, but someone cancelled and I got it in about 2 months.

There will be a lot to learn, lots of trial and error, it took me nearly 3 months to decide that it was what i wanted, I was tempted to hand it back at times, but stuck with it. Now love the flexibility it gives me. Still making minor adjustments here and there but your Hb1ac should get even better

Good luck

Evening all! Lots to catch up on here... Uni was great today, got all the admin side of things done, enrolling etc. Met some of the others on my course, there’s some real characters. And the young chap in charge of it all today is T1 himself, diagnosed in his final year of uni... he asked me if I had a sensor to scan, to I introduced him to Elvis :D He’s got Libre but is still on jabs.

@karen8967 - great news! It’ll come around quickly :)

@ert - I'm currently not being at all discreet about my injections! New colleagues are all trying to learn all they can about insulin/blood sugars before next week, are busy re-enforcing the training they're recently had before they've got to put it into practise, so they're all keen to watch and learn all they can. In fact, there was a bit of a squabble about who was going to prepare my pen ready for today's lunchtime injection.

But, once students are back in, none of whom bother in the slightest what I'm up to once they know about it, I will revert to my more discreet under the table techniques.

Not even remotely relevant in Ert's situation, but your post just reminded me of the enthousiasm of a young woman studying to be a nurse. We were having a 3 day sailing trip with 20 people and she had just been learning the theory about bg testing and injecting insulin in the week before. She was so very happy about getting to test and inject me that I ate some extra carbs a couple of times only to let her practice injecting :hilarious:. Seemed a perfectly sound reason for an unusual treat to me. And instead of more or less injecting discretely (more less than more as I just jab it in, wherever I am) I got to call out "Núúúúúúúrse! I need my insulin!" I also gave her my spare meter and half a tub of test strips and lancets for the trip to use on anyone she could convince. Happy to say no one seemed to have diabetes, and happier to say I managed to test lowest of everyone after lots of beer and crisps and dosing perfectly :D

Morning all! Been off line with Libre as last sensor came off. Bloods only whilst waiting 24 hours for the new one to bed in. Nice 5.2 on the bloods on waking. But I hate not seeing what actually happened overnight. Grandson today! Pops will be on full on duty due to my back. Shall stick to reading stories.

Morning all, for the past three nights Mattie has decided she has to go out in the middle of the night, 2.20 last night. In fact it was one of her worst nights; we seem to take two steps forwards and one (or sometimes three) back with her overnight. Still, it's less than three weeks, so fingers crossed. Bg was fine in the middle of the night, but up to 8.4 by the time she shouted at 6 this morning. Not sure if it's dp or the stress of puppy shrieking that's sending it up; I don't usually suffer greatly with dp, mainly, weirdly, if I've been high in the night.

@karen8967 hope the wait doesn't feel so long and good luck.

@ert that's great! Soounds much better than just surviving, so pleased it went much more smoothly than expected.

@Mel dCP what a place to find a T1 in the wild! Expet he'll be learning a lot from you.

Morning friends, 6.1 on waking. :) My bf’s ear infection is back and his ear has been bleeding out blood and pus. He woke me up today because he freaked out about something on his pillow. It was a clump of wax, blood and pus, he created it from his lovely body and said have a look at my child.

Has he given it a name...?
Bit too late to pack it off to school today..

But maybe kit it out with a uniform & enrol for tomorrow?

Lovely :D

Morning chaps, slept very soundly last night, more than made up for the night before when I had wasps in my brain. Lost a bet with husbeast who was certain I’d buy a Swansea Uni hoodie on my very first day...

Morning all, and recovery wishes for @becca59 and @MeiChanski’s bf.
I’ve just had a close, too close encounter with the organisational mess of conglomerate doctors’ practice. Grrrrr. I was given an appointment date for a shingles vac, but couldn’t do that one, offered another which was later cancelled with no explanation, so arranged a third, for 9.00 today. When I got there I was told I couldn’t have today’s vaccination as I’m not 70 yet (birthday’s 17 days away). So WHY was I given today’s appointment. Nice, smiley, reasonable me got very cross. Why was it not cancelled like the one on the 18th?
More grrrrrrr

@Fairygodmother - that's doctors politics just to get you wound up, they succeed with me EVERY time I have to speak to them!

I like your BF's SOH.

Maybe collect some more & build a "feature" in the front room...?
