Differing info from various people and organisations
There are more people on here that think they are doctor's than are on the NHS.

TO MUCH CONFUSING INFO JUST REMEMBER EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT AND YOU CANT COMPARE YOURSELF WITH OTHERS.

THE FORUM IS NOT FOR ME AND NOR IS THE SURGERIES DIABETIC NURSE . THEY ARE BASIC NURSES WITH THE WORD DIABETIC IN FRONT OF THIER NAME.

THE BEST PEOPLE FOR ADVICE IS THE DIABETES MULTI DISCIPLINARY TEAM .
ALL AREAS HAVE A SPECIALIST TEAM

GOOD LUCK TO ALL AND DONT BELIEVE ALL YOU READ

Hello, I can’t comment on the type 2 side of things. But for type 1s it seems to be the same information but I know a lot more from those who have experienced it first like insulin pumps etc. But yes everyone is different and that’s always highlighted on the type 1 side of things. However if something works, would you not share it?

I've learnt a lot more from T1s on here than from the diabetic team. Realistically nurses and consultants only have a short time to meet you. They also rarely have the disease so don't deal with the day to day issues.

This group pointed me in the direction of Lantus side effects which gave me the confidence to request a change. They also advise on dosing and exercise and how to eat pizza. All of those have made a huge difference to my life!

'Diabetes multi disciplinary team' lol and how does a T2 get to see them?

I don't believe all I read. I didn't believe the book I was given at diagnosis by by DN. Thankfully. The advice on this forum is so much better than anything in that book (which is published by DUK). Of course the advice here is varied. It is up to individuals to work out what bits are for them.

Hello @kencom Firstly how you are diagnosed will of course dictate what treatment method is best for you, no one here can diagnose you, so speaking to your team is important to ensure you're receiving the right treatment to control your blood glucose levels.

This forum offers advice and support from it's community of members, most members live 24/7 with diabetes, they know and understand how to manage their conditions to live their lives as fully as possible, it's part of the forum ethos to help and support each other, and this provides many with a valuable lifeline to help them cope physically and mentally with the daily grind of diabetes, how you use this forum is up to you, but if you feel you would benefit from it's support then please stay and continue to tune in, if you feel you can manage without this support then fine, but if you do stay please have a read of our forum rules, it's important all members review them to understand how this forum works: https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/community-ethos-forum-rules.50278/

I am t2 and have no access to the diabetic multi discipline team.
All I have is my gp and diabetic nurse at the surgery.
Yes I know those at the surgery only have an additional training manly for t2,s and yes I know they are not experts.
We all have our own opinion on things.
I have learnt alot from members here and yes we all have our own opinions.

Litterbugs war mongers hate mongers propagandists.
I'm sure there's more.
The local surgery have to give advice based on NICE guidelines which are so out of date it's killing people.
Anyone who comes on a forum should have enough common sense to know that it's full of .... experts who learned by having the disease instead of reading about it n a book written by big pharma.
We may not be experts in medicine but we certainly have some great ideas based on first hand experience.
I'd rather learn how to fly from someone who can fly than from someone who read a book .....

Medical professionals aren't great either. I have just had a phone from the doctors to say I should stop a tablet that only two weeks ago, the hospital said I should stay on. #confused
