Fbg at 4:30 am is 6.3

At 1 am when I visited the bathroom I was 5.4 in the night.

It dipped yesterday a tiny bit in the night in the early hours.

This app One Drop, predicting my possible future few hours at any point of time has been accurate or .5 over in the day, or in the early hours at 1 am this morning it was .6 under what I actually was. Otherwise it has been pretty bang on accurate for me. It does say its prediction is an average of what I might be. It gives me future predictions up to 8 hours ahead, so far

So all my readings over a 24 hour period (pre meal, 2 hours post meal, fasting, or others between post meal and the next meal, or between post meal and morning fbg) have all been from 5.4 (in the night) to 6.7 which was a post meal one).

I have never been on this even a keel before with my blood sugars. I am still taking my Metformin, 2 in a morning and one at night.

These results are not achievable unless I take regular vampire pricks on my fingers and check my sugars. And the One Drop app is helping me enormously.

I know I am still in the honeymoon stage with this One Drop app.

Yesterday, I found myself eating to my blood sugars, so if I eat such and such I might bring it down a tiny bit. And it worked for the app’s projected readings, and also in reality.

Today I am going to be eating a bit differently, and see what happens. If my readings go up, then the next meal of a protein meal will bring them back down again.

I have been severely missing milk. Prior diabetes I used to love chocolate milk, and also unpasteurised milk direct from a farm near me.

I do not like almond and soy milk etc.

So last night I was researching some ways I could drink milk (I am assuming just drinking it straight will not help my sugars levels). I do have some low carb chocolate protein powder which I have not tried yet. I also have ground almonds and other pantry stuff. I do have some full fat sterilised milk. I brought some in case when my daughter was here she wanted milk in her tea, but she only drank black coffee. I do have double cream.

So, based on my research last night I will try something with the above.

And with the rest of the sterilised milk in the small bottle, I have enough to try a chia pudding. I have never done that before either.

So experimenting today.

We are promised thunderstorms today. They may or may not materialise. We know how good the Met office predictions are!

I love a dramatic thunderstorm!

Have a good day/Sunday.

Take care.

@gennepher the One Drop app seems to be working well for you. I admire your tenacity and research skills. Today is either the "I am not in love but I'm open to persuasion" day or the "marginal gains" day. Bg was 5.4 on rising, all joints working, resting pulse coming down, rugby to watch and joint of lamb later = marginal gains. Not in love with the 4 horsemen of the LC apocalypse which have stalked me for about 14 months but open to persuasion that our relationship has not irretrievably broken down.

Thank you @ianpspurs
The only person that can do this is me, or ourselves. We need to be more knowledgeable than the specialists who are only trained in the confines of their particular discipline. We are not the same, especially at this time of our lives, when the multitude of individual life events has possibly changed our internal make up, so one size of approach cannot remotely fit all.

I can smell your lamb roast from here...and I know it is most likely not in the oven yet...

@dunelm thank you for posting those lovely photos. I especially like the gate nestled among the trees and shrubs -- very Tolkien-ish. I want to open it, lead out a Hobbit pony, and gallop off across that glorious green grass.
Oh Thank you and pleased that you liked them.

Good morning everyone from a rather dull and drizzly morning in the Lake District.

The wonder wheel of a good long walk and a black tie evening extravaganza heralded a smartly dressed 5.4 this morning and a nice flat line during the night (no - not the dangerous sort of flat line - oh dear!)

Lovely circular route yesterday up and around the river Derwent - my Fitbit clocked it as 9.3 miles with a total daily shuffle of 12.4 miles. Dinner last night was formal black tie - far too funny to take is serious when we are up and down between courses, taking away dishes, fetching in the next course and then all hands to washing up and putting away in long dresses and dinner jackets.

Curry is on the menu today and I have been tasked with whole roasted and spiced cauliflower - times three by the looks of the larder.

Have a great day if you can, a couple of pictures from yesterdays walk.

Where did that Indian Summer go?

A good morning to all, I awoke to a 6.2 BG reading, I had expected it to be much lower after a very low carb two days. I also had to use 6 strips because my fingers were not being generous so I am feeling a little cheesed off. I am putting it down to a very late night/early morning but who knows?

Still a good day to look forward too, the damp weather means I can stay inside and finish my painting of the Farrier and then off to a music gig this evening.

I wish to one and all a pleasant day of enlightenment, understanding and improved wellbeing for those who need it.

Hey I’m home!
Good to have you back PM all rested after your holiday provided you weren't too active abroad;)...Frankie is back in Londo now he loved the garden here...he doesn't have his own green space at home so was fascinated by just walking out the back door onto grass...I have some photos I will post later.

Last night ate late because of a hectic day at work. Had lamb burger with mint for dinner. Rather stupidly thought lamb and mint - perfect keto. Tasted rather suspiciously sweet so looked at the ingredients afterwards and was horrified that it had sugar as an ingredient - quite high up on the list plus a whole heap of other nasties.I

So not surprised at the 7.7 before bedtime. I always go to bed in the 5s unless I eat late but even then it would only be in the low 6s so the 7.7 was a huge shock.

This morning was relieved to get a 4.8.

Just relaxing now and later will have a relaxing wander around Gooderstone Water Gardens.

Good morning. 6.6 this morning which indicates the reduced number of bites is bringing my BG down as well. Staying on the anti histamine for a few more days, both oral and topical and that should be that. Thanks @gennepher and @Bubbsie. Its actually nice to be home and am off to get essentials in a minute (by that I mean Bobs and Daisy, followed by bread and milk).
Have a great Sunday everyone. Stay well, stay safe.

You're on a roll with the morning numbers and the lamb burger hasn't impacted that. Enjoy your wander although weather forecast for the East isn't great.

Morning...had such a good sleep last night I woke up full of aches & pains...my head hit the pillow and I didn't stir once...just unwinding with a good cup of coffee...rain last night (or this morning) it's freshened up the garden...more coffee to follow then off to collect an old side table I spotted at a bargain price...despite a very 'bad' day yesterday (hob nob biscuits & digestives) woke to a 6.2

4.8 when I woke at 6.30am. 5.1 when I woke an hour later. Obviously I'm taking the 4.8 :)

I was a little shy to mention the other day what happened at the x-pert health conference in Manchester. I met up with Dr David Unwin at the end of the day in the reception area. My eyes lit up (he is one of my heroes). We went towards each other like long lost friends and hugged. He said 'you superstar' I replied 'I love you' laughing and a little giggly i must say. It was a magical moment for me. Anyway it's out there now. He is such a lovely man.

So today's news is that I have been invited to speak at a health and wellbeing event put on by Merlin for its employees and also the public. It's at Blackpool Tower Ballroom no less. I obviously said yes. I say yes to anything as you know! I knew I wouldn't get there for me dancing skills!!!

I've had a promotion and will be known as a keynote speaker! (Never in my wildest dreams would I have said I would have had the guts for this but my passion is overtaking my nerves and beating them out of the way). If it helps one diabetic, one person battling their weight, or turns any light on regarding looking after the most precious gift of health then I'm very happy.

I can also say 'as seen on TV'!!!

It would be lovely to see members of the forum there. I will be there all day and at some point giving a 30 minute talk! Ideas on that are as follows:

Obviously my journey with diabetes. From prior to dx to date and what I am hoping for in the future as a diabetic.
So my lifestyle
Insulin resistance
Weight gain
Teaspoon of sugar demo
My diagnosis
How I felt
Advice I was given
Medication my thoughts
Google and finding a way to reverse t2d
Lchf and keto explained
What it can be helpful for
Low carb shopping list
Other options VLCD and bariatric surgery eg
Blood sugar monitoring including libre demo
Going to do similar experiment to dr unwin where he ate a banana and it showed a spike
Touch on IF
Mindfulness

That sort of thing.

Plus Eric has agreed to be a prop as well as PA! Exhibit A = non diabetic who has lost 20lbs himself making small changes

PowerPoint presentation hopefully.

Please feel free to spread the word my friends. Every little helps I always say, this may only be to a few people (whoever's wanders in in the day) but ripples can reach far and wide. Eric will be filming and I will subsequently be posting on all my social media platforms.

Have a lovely Sunday. I'm painting! Did outside yesterday as it was scorchio. Back indoors today.

6.8 this morning. I will be glad when I’ve finished the antibiotics. I’m not sure if these higher numbers are due to switching to using the MiaoMiao2 or a combination of infection and antibiotics. Also could be down to the fact I’m having more real food at the moment, I was struggling with 4 shakes a day, and seem to be gravitating to eating food every other day right now. But I don’t seem to be spiking much when I’m eating food, my numbers don’t go above 7.8 nowadays. Right now there are too many variables in play. So I’m gonna knuckle down and be good on the diet for a week or so and see where I end up.

Wednesday this week I will be going to Bristol, I’ve agreed to take part in some research study. I’ve booked my train and all that looking forward to a day out. Not so much sitting on a train for 2 hours each way.

Hope everyone has a good Sunday. My day is brother visiting, then Formula 1, then some American football, Indy car racing, and I could continue with American football till 5 am if I wanted. But I do have to go to my volunteering tomorrow so I maybe in bed for half the last game,

FBG 7 according to the meter this morning. Apparently the sausages I ate yesterday didn't neutralize the effect of the accompanying biscuits. Oh, well.

@dunelm the new photos are beautiful. The one with the river and mountains looks a little like the mountain town I am hoping to move to north of here.

@PenguinMum I could almost hear the purring! (I hope you picked up some tuna as well as the bread and milk.) ;) Welcome home, Bobs and Daisy! ^. .^. .^

@Bubbsie I can't wait to see the pics of Frankie. I sympathize with him about the grass. I need more green space than we have here.

@Debandez I'm glad you got over your shyness and posted about your meeting with Dr Unwin. We all dream of meeting our heroes, and I enjoyed reading your description -- like a movie scene. Thank you for posting it. I wish I could come to Blackpool -- it sounds so exciting!
