I woke up this morning with a bs of 19 and it has gone down to 14 obviously too high still.
However I'm blooming starving and I can't eat yet

Hello @NorfolkNic I find I am more ravenous when my BG levels are running high, it's the fact that you have so little energy whilst running high because the body can't convert the excess glucose in your blood into energy that causes the hunger, I tend to just do low carb when like this, so an omelette or something that doesn't continue to fuel the high BG levels.
Thank you for the advice, I don't have any eggs but have cheese so I will have a small piece of that and hope it starves the hunger off until my bs are lower x
Eating cheese is a good decision, I find fat is more filling than carbs and keeps you fuller for longer too.
Hopefully you know why you went high too ?
Hello @NorfolkNic
It sounds very much like Dawn Phenomenon as this it's a regular occurrence, it's talked about a lot on the forum so there's lots of threads on this. What basal insulin do you take and when do you take it ?
Good morning, thank you all for your help yesterday, I am still very confused as to what to do though ............BS at 3am was 8.6 I took it again when waking up and it was 9.6, went downstairs to make a cuppa and two rivita with butter on, before I had eaten or drunk anything I measured by BS and it had gone up to 11.9.......i had a correction dose at 3 as my meter told me too but why shoot up like this ...........help
But - that is normal - your liver is releasing glucose so you can chase down or travel to find breakfast - is isn't something to be concerned about, it's what has happened since before Adam realized he needed trousers.Good morning, thank you all for your help yesterday, I am still very confused as to what to do though ............BS at 3am was 8.6 I took it again when waking up and it was 9.6, went downstairs to make a cuppa and two rivita with butter on, before I had eaten or drunk anything I measured by BS and it had gone up to 11.9.......i had a correction dose at 3 as my meter told me too but why shoot up like this ...........help
Mmmm steak and sausages, yummy. I have lots of weight to lose thoughBut - that is normal - your liver is releasing glucose so you can chase down or travel to find breakfast - is isn't something to be concerned about, it's what has happened since before Adam realized he needed trousers.
That is a bit of a sad breakfast - I have had steak or sausages with onion, sweet pepper and mushrooms.
