Inpsired by Bob I decided to join in so started Slimfast last Sunday. Was really unsure if I could stick with it but so far have managed to. I don't feel hungry but have a experienced a feeling of needing to chew something which is a bit weird. Thought of chewing gum but I have a metal tooth and it sticks around it so that's really not a good option.

Anyway BS readings first thing have been around 4.9 and today were 3.7 however I don't feel too great this morning and wondered if it was too low. Also have lost 9lbs but appreciate that this will mostly be water. I hope I can keep going.

Bob, you're an inspiration with those numbers. Thank you.

Are you still taking your Meds ??

If your not on any BG meds cant really go too low now :) May take you week or so getting used to running at near normal BG levels

Thanks

I did have doubts on all this But has surprised the heck out of me in a good way
The no meds after 4 years , is realy good thing for me as I have a few side effects from all the drugs i take can safely rule out all my diabetic drugs as the culprits

The Slim fast 90kcal snack bars are OK if you feel you relay need a chew softer than gum dont seem to touch my BG now I have a few in but only had the one so far

Hi Bob, stoped taking the meds a few days before starting this. I had real problems with tiredness, dizziness, etc ad nauseam because I take quite a few drugs for various things. Stopped all of them with GP's permission apart from high blood pressure meds. Feel much better take two tabs instead of the nine I was taking every morning. Also feel like a light bulb has been switched an and I'm much more alert this week than I have been for ages.

Cheers

Today begins week 2. So far I appear to have lost 10lbs although I posted yesterday it will be mostly water loss. I have surprised myself being able to stick to this, but genuinely have never felt hungry or tempted to cheat.

This is the most amazing part. According to my meter my average 7 day readings WITHOUT MEDS is 5.1 which is after 47 tests, I realise that this is a ridiculous amount of testing but I was doing it at all times of day and night randomly just to see if any of the readings were flukey (?? is this a cumbrian word) The 14 days readings INCLUDING MEDS all the time were 5.8 and the 30 days readings INCLUDING MEDS were 6.1.

I can only assume that this VLCD has done something to reduce the problem, however it is very early days and hopefully if I am able to continue then hopefully it will produce similar or even better results.

I hope anyone else doing this plan is having the same great results.

Hi Bob
yes I think that after a while those sweet ones are a nice change a few weeks down the line.

Well here I am on the last day of week 5............YES week 5!........ can't believe I have got this far and been so good I think I could almost pass for an angel haha............not!!!

I am back in UK for a few days next week so that will be a challenge just with all the travelling.
However I will be able to have a change from the STRAWBERRY shakes..... ......thank god for that.

Hubby is now bringing some banana flavour over and I will bring the coffee and
chocolate back with me. :D
Whoop whoop that will be fun soooooo much choice I am getting giddy just thinking about it!
Bg still steady away at 5.7

Remember Boots have ready made ones also some supermarkets
there are extra flavors that don't come in powders like:

Fruits of the Forest Flavour Shake
Lemon Meringue Flavour Shake

I find the ready made are real handy when out and around then pop into coffee shop
and have black coffee with my Shake

product-med-20.png

Last resort you can have a slim-fast meal bar with a coffee
The CHOCOLATE PEANUT FLAVOUR MEAL BAR is Ummm

I would stock right up while your here

Hi Bob
that's a great idea I will look out for those when I get back. They should do the trick. :D

Well it's weigh day today and I have droped another 4lbs.......... .........fantastic!
So that's 23lbs in 5 weeks and no problem with sticking with it. :p

9lbs week1
4lbs week2
3lbs week3
3lbs week4
4lbs week5

I can really feel the difference now and some of my clothes aren't fitting properly.
So it's a good job I am back over this week I can pick up some of my smaller size clothes that
are at the back of mine and every woman's wardrobe ..........now come on ladies we ALL have them haha.

I hope all goes well with you today at your weigh-in Bob I am keeping my fingers crossed for

HI Bob

your post has just come up as I posted mine .......... don't be disappointed
you are doing really well. You are only a pound behind me at the same stage
so I would say you are right on game plan.

You did lose a lot last week for a week 2.

Have you a weight loss in mind for the whole program or is it like me "ce qui sera sera"
what will be will be!!!

Onwards and upwards then.

More of a "ce qui sera sera" I WILL stick to the 8 weeks
I will then see how I am ,I may push it to 12 weeks if only for the Hb1c with no Meds Test
then if i still need to drop some lbs I will carry on with one meal replaced with a
normal one see what happens ? then with My BG and the lbs
I am my own Lab Rat

For me I know it will slow right down as I can Not exercise ,Only chair-aerobics (TV remote)

But i am still beating my wife doing the Slimming World diet :D

I was lazily reading your post, you moaning about not being able to exercise, and then I did a double take when I read this... I thought "That's a vicious way to take exercise".
