I use www.exactmeals.com and it's excellent for carb counting.
All I do is weight my carbs, however most of my meals are at home so it’s a bit easier than when I eat out. I generally find there is more fat and sugars when I eat out compared to home cooked food, not good for people who eat out a lot!

Carbs and Cals was first published as a book (see Amazon) but is also available as an app. It gives a reasonable insight into carb levels in meals. The app version also allows recording of carb intake in meals.

Good points made. My problem is how often should I do a blood test and at what times?

Before each meal and before bed is the standard. Remember you can not improve (your BGL) if you are not measuring.

I use MiaoMiao as the CGM to monitor my BG, it alerts me when my BG is not normal, it's a life changer to me. Love it so much.

It seems very uneasy for young kids to do the basal rate testing, since they can't express clearly if they are "feeling low". More frequently Bg checks (maybe every 30 minutes?)are needed in the circumstance, which is too much painful for young kids.

I thought I'd start a topic with some useful links and tools for T1Ds, including links to methods and courses.

For Basal Testing, this is possibly the best description and detailed breakdown I've found for both pump and MDI users: https://mysugr.com/basal-rate-testing/

To learn about Carb counting and Insulin to Carb ratios, the Bournemouth Diabetes and Endocrine Centre has the following e-learning course: http://www.bertieonline.org.uk/

In terms of general management of Diabetes, the following are all extremely useful:

Gary Scheiner's website (Author of Think like a Pancreas): http://integrateddiabetes.com/

Richard Bernstein's website: http://www.diabetes-book.com/

Sugar Surfing from Stephen Ponder: Website - http://sugarsurfing.com/ and Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/StephenPonderMD/

Helpful, downloadable and printable sick day flowchart: http://www.leicestershirediabetes.org.uk/uploads//documents/Type1 Sick_day_rules_InsulinV3.pdf

Diabetes-Support forum: http://www.diabetes-support.org.uk/info/

The DOC and NHS team T1 Resources Website: http://www.t1resources.uk/

Please feel free to add any that you can think of.

Another fantastic book is PUMPING INSULIN by John Walsh and Ruth Roberts. this was my bible when I first went on a pump just over 10 yrs ago. I would recommend Stephen Ponders - SUGAR SURFING as mentioned above also.

These are all great recommendations.
I’ve really fine tuned my control with a few other resources:
1) Think Like a Pancreas - a must read for all T1Ds. Make sure you get the most recent edition!
2) Podcasts - as an active person, I really enjoy “Insuleoin - Redefining Diabetes” and “Type 1 Tom - The Type 1 Movement”. Great to listen to on drives or walking. I also follow them on social media and they post regularly.

Using these resources, I’ve been able to bring my Time in Range from 70% to 85% average over 30 days ( I’m on the 670g using auto mode).

I have been using Nightrider Blucon with Freestyle Libre sensor to monitor my diabetes. Such a powerful tool that lets you have glucose readings and alarms without scanning.
