My BG was 4.1 before I went to bed last night, so I had a snack...

What level is ok to not have to snack? I am trying to lower my hba1c and so need to keep it lower - the snack resulted in this morning being 71. :(

What was the snack, Teresa? It may be that it wasn't quite big enough, or your body dealt with it too quickly, so you had a liver dump during the night to raise your levels to your fasting reading.

That's just a guess, mind - I'm not on insulin, so I could be wrong. I'd be okay with 4.1 at bedtime, and if I had anything then it might be a couple of oatcakes with butter and some cheese - the fat and protein last longer than carb.

I hope someone with more experience will be along soon to help.

Im on insulin (novorapid and lantus) and i asked my DSN this question. He said dont go to bed lower than 6. Ive always held to this and wake up with a BS of around 4.3-5.5. Hope this helps.
