People judging my condition not knowing enough about it.
My HBA1C result is 63. My consultant at the hospital doesn’t seem too concerned but my nurse at the surgery is not happy with this and says it is far too high. Why is there a discrepancy between 2 diabetes health professionals?

My GP surgery has a diabetic specialist nurse. I have forgotten more about diabetes than she knows. As an example.....I have been on a pump since February. I had to see the GP nurse about my repeats and she said that since being on the pump I have not ordered any Basal insulin on my repeats.....That is when I told her not to advise me on anything diabetes related!

How long have you been T1D @suk

@porl69 that would be so funny if it wasn't so bad :(

@suk I wouldn't worry what either of them say, more importantly, are you happy with it?

In March this year my Hba1c was 71, I was due for an operation and the consultant wanted me down to 68 or less before the op.
41 is the upper limit for a normal person (so I've been lead to believe) so your surgery nurse wouldn't be happy with you being 22 over, while your consultant would (possibly) be happy because you were under the hospital's (safety?) level especially if you were heading for an op.

Porl69 - I have been T1 since 1972 so 47 years. I don’t have any complications so I must be okay?

Hi- is that a Diabetes UK tee I can see (am also a volunteer for them in Surrey!)
The hba11c was the most useful way to see how things were until fresstyle libre . So you can have a fab near normal HBA1c but for some people that means lots of bgs in range and for others it means the misery of many lows plus highs.
If your body is steady at 63 with no complications that suggests you;ve got nice steady sugars or you are very lucky or both!

@suk 47 years with no complications is amazing. 49 years Jan for me BUT I have complications. Your nurse at your GP is hardly a leading light in diabetes management lol. 5 years ago I would have been over the moon with an A1C of 63 (take a look at my signature!). 63 is a little high, as you are aware BUT with zero complications, you are obviously doing something right
