On a whim, in their sale, I bought a hard anodised sauté pan and wok from Sainsbury's a couple of years ago, and over time have added another couple of bits. We have a full set of stainless steel pans, as well as a couple of Circulon frying pans, plus the cast iron. Yes, I know.....

The hard anodised are absolutely fab, and although based on aluminium, the process seals that in. Ours have survived all manner, without any scratching. The sauté pan base is over 30cm (although I can't measure it right now) and I find it rock solid and level on the cooker.

If I were buying a first pan, and wasn't confident I'd like it, I'd go to Lakeland - just because of their fabulous satisfaction guarantee.
I have a set of Sainsbury's Collection pots which I've had for 20 year! Not a scratch on them. I think they just call them hard anodised now. The 2 woks are the same make. Not surprisingly, I also have a set of Professional pots and pans that I bought in Cheshire Oaks shopping outlet on the way back from work somewhere south on the M6. I've had them ages too since it's 13 years since I stopped working. I've tried other odd ones but they never do what it says on the tin! I've held onto one Le Creuset round casserole dish. I used to have a rectangular one but I managed to crack it. Like @PenguinMum it's frying pans that need replacing although this Salter one is hikding up well so far.

@Chook - hope the visit to the vampire went well. Your numbers are looking pretty good by the way. @Brunneria - how do you find wearing maiomaio with the Libre? I wasn't sure if it was something that would get in the way with the number of times I'm in the pool weekly. @DJC3 - This has to be the week with the least changes for me on the DD schedule (yesterdays change was down to leftovers). I'm trying to work out what to do next week as I'm still a week ahead. Week 4 is the start of "Deep Dive" (looking forward to @ianpspurs take on that ). I reconk??? (think) I may repeat week 2 with 3 days of OMAD. Today, I'm back on their schedule. Bed 4.2 FBG 5.3. I got a reading of 8.7 yesterday but it was a rogue reading. Immediately retested on a different finger/hand and it was 5.2. I'd touched watermelon I'd cut for the boys!
B. Just TAG
L. 1 avocado with smoked salmon and I did a mix of sour cream, mayo and lemon juice for the dressing.
D. Will be a burger with salad.

It's not playing with the photo upload again!

People who think they know everything.
Thanks, everyone, for the good wishes - the actual blood taking went well (I didn't faint this time) and my review is next Tuesday.

So, today, 21st January....

Bed time test yesterday: 5.8
FBG this morning: 6.4
Later breakfast than usual due to vampire visit
B: Green Gloopy Smoothie (I'm wondering if this could turn in to a soup with the addition of some cream to thicken it - or maybe that would cook some of the goodness out of it)
2 hours later: 5.4

Lunch: (will be) 80g strawberries, 100g Apro soya coconut yoghurt and four halves of crushed walnuts

Dinner: (will be) green lentil and kale dhaal / dal (different spelling everywhere I look) with cauliflower rice

Drinks: Usual big mugs of coffee until mid morning then water for the rest of the day.

Lunch: Half an avocado with salami on another slice of burgen (Livlife on order)! Raspberries, homemade lc choc granola and double cream.

Miscellaneous: Green and blacks squares (waiting for 90% Godiva in my shop to be delivered)
Banana and nut Yes bar (about 9gms)

Just discovered Love Raw Hazelnut Buttercups at 4.2gms per cup (Ocado)

Food update! No cheese consumed but managed glass of wine!!

Yesterday I was trying to keep track of BG throughout the day to see if there was a pattern emerging. FBG was 8.4 and I started my food day at 9.30 with 34 units of Humilin S and some of the Tesco Ardennes pate - just because it was there (I realised when I looked at the Tesco site that it included tapioca flour and potato flour and contained 5+ g carb per 100 g. Tapioca flour is usually not a good idea for me, but doesn't seem to have had any ill effect - not much of it there I suppose.) I had about 100 g of it.

That put BG up to 10.9 by 10.30 and 12.0 by 11.45 but it did drop again and by 4 pm it was 6.7. At 5.30 I had 3 eggs scrambled with butter - again after 34 units of Hum S. Then recording BG went wrong a bit because Em decided to call in on her way home from school but by 8 pm it was 7.1. I had a piece of 85% choc (unusual for me, but I thought I would try it). Result? BG 10.0.

Not sure that there is a pattern there at all.

Anyway - today I have 2 chicken legs in the oven roasting and will have at least one about 3 pm. I also have some calf's liver on standby in case I get too hungry later - just eating meaty things seems to do that to me. FBG was 7.3 and I'll continue to check frequently when I do eat.

The Kangoo is on its last wheels. A mechanic checked it and advised that it won't pass its MOT next month so no point trying to fix the alternator. It's done well, poor old thing and will likely end its days on the croft as a mini greenhouse. Unfortunately, we were also advised, when the Scenic went in for its service, that we should replace the back tyres, they aren't worn but the rubber is cracking around the walls - they're pretty old as well. We were digesting this information and this morning went to the shops and got a puncture in one of the said rear tyres! Decision made - straight to the tyre workshop and had 2 new rear tyres put on and got them to reseat one of the front ones as well, which has been losing pressure. Pretty expensive month this, bearing in mind that the cold weather meant our oil supply ran out earlier than usual so the tank has to be filled asap. Still, all should be in working order for a little while and, at least, I can not renew tax on the Kangoo and not pay for it to be MOT'd. Ought to get something back on the insurance as well, - every little helps!

A salad with tomatoes, a chunk of cheese and a bit of chicken

I have been walking, training, both at home and in the park this morning.

I have also been snacking on pork scratchings and almonds.

Must add more fats to my meals as initial energy levels were low. Seemed to get better as I worked out.

Have finally, work on Thur and Fri. So will test my survival skills in the wild.....

Felt amazing getting some Sun on my face and a chill in my body.

Ok, so I have just had a potentially life changing moment...
Steak in the airfryer!!! From frozen!!!

it was just a prepacked cheap ribeye (rather small) that had been sitting in the freezer for months.
Popped it into the airfryer still completely rock hard, and gave it 10 mins ea side at 180 degrees.

Fabulous.

Might do it 9 mins ea side next time, and knock a minute off each time until I hit the perfick medium-rare.

That steak sounds fab @Brunneria - good tip!

Continued with my 2 meal pattern today. Lunch BES - bacon eggs cheese. Dinner was slow cooked brisket - managed to find a piece with a decent fat to meat ratio.

Breakfast today was my usual slice LivLife toast, butter, tea x2.
Lunch was large mug chicken soup and a big chunk of Emmenthal almost finished the Christmas cheese now.
Supper is roast chicken requested by Mr PM with mash and baked beans. For me will be chicken leg and tenderstem broccoli. Might need a spoon of the beans but maybe not.
Feeling a bit down today so Blue Tuesday for me but I will get over myself soon as Mr Bennett more or less declared in Pride & Prejudice.

Today is a 3 meal day according to the DD plan. Goodoh!
B: Veggie Keto Scramble. Black coffee
L: not a DD meal, needed to use up some bits and bobs so tin of mackerel in oo. Coleslaw made with him mayo. 1 h/b egg and 2 celery sticks with M&S whipped creamy cheese.
D: Keto Pork Chops with a Blue Cheese Sauce. Sent Mr C to buy the chops, his was so big it looked like a Sunday joint. Wouldn’t fit under the grill so it needed the airfryer all by itself. ( did look good though)
@PenguinMum I do hope you feel chirpier tomorrow, it’s not like you to be down. I think roast chicken is good comfort food so I hope it helps. Maybe a snifter later too?
@Brunneria thanks for the frozen steak airfryer tip. I also have a single one in the freezer so that’s my lunch one day when everyone else is out.
@Goonergal the brisket looks fall apart fabulous.
@Annb hugs for the complete lack of any understandable pattern emerging, and for your poor old jalopy.

Hi all
@PenguinMum hug for your blue Tuesday we were a bit sad to take cooper back today but won’t miss him tonight as he can get unsettled at night so think we should sleep better! Five nights is quite a long run of disturbed nights.
Breakfast one slice of bacon and egg with half a toasted chaffle
Lunch range of cheese, celery and walnuts. About 6 squares of 100% montezumas with almonds with coffee
Dinner chicken with ginger and coriander served with salads and avocado and glass dry white followed by lc lemon and lime mousse with spoon of yoghurt.

I don't believe that for a moment! Got to say I'm really enjoying Week 3 of this DD schedule. Definitely my kind of food. Brings back memories of sitting on the balcony in Italy with just an assortment of meats, fish (anchovies), artichokes, roasted pickled peppers, aubergine and copious amounts of wine. No wonder an afternoon nap was required.
Honestly, it's shaken me out of my fed up phase but I'll still fiddle with the recipes!

They may look at you as if you've gone nuts but, have you ever tried to get a Libre sensor and scanner on the SNHS from your doctor? You're insulin dependent and I know it's down to the individual health boards but, if you don't ask....it would let you see the trends over a 14 day period. I found it incredibly helpful at night to find out what was going on. They may even have a set as a trial - you never know.

Good evening fam. B=bulletproof tea, then another tea with lactofree milk - bye bye lacto free. Much more tea - there was a plan/need. Lunch = lemon tea and food porn in Gail's bakery Cambridge with Katz Deli type moments in nearby Decathlon. Evening was more tea and Ox cheek casserole atop raw spinach then nibbled some cheese and ate 1 row Green and Blacks sea salt stuffage and 1 row Chocologic Belgian chocolate. Lots of fluid as part of camera in intimate places this afternoon. Went well and doc said surgeon did a neat job - see me in 3 months. A14 fluid all the way home so all good.

Breakfast: Usual omelette, bacon, tomato.
Lunch: Barbequeed fish, salad.
Dinner: Steak, veggies, pan juice gravy.

Drinks: Black coffee no sugary, water.

Spudlites are back on the menu as the transport system sorts itself out after the bushfires and are back in stock.

The total fire ban has been rescinded out at the block so we'll be able to use the fire pit again to cook in.

Edit: punk chew ation...

Thanks for that. May be more Blue for Mr P M and son after tonight. Take care and once you change that meter all will be well.
