Good evening fam. B=bulletproof tea, then another tea with lactofree milk - bye bye lacto free. Much more tea - there was a plan/need. Lunch = lemon tea and food porn in Gail's bakery Cambridge with Katz Deli type moments in nearby Decathlon. Evening was more tea and Ox cheek casserole atop raw spinach then nibbled some cheese and ate 1 row Green and Blacks sea salt stuffage and 1 row Chocologic Belgian chocolate. Lots of fluid as part of camera in intimate places this afternoon. Went well and doc said surgeon did a neat job - see me in 3 months. A14 fluid all the way home so all good.

So pleased all is well after your horrible sounding procedure today. That’s great news.

Mid afternoon: black coffee.

Had a late breakfast of egg and mushrooms and then dinner tonight i had this concoction of chopped cabbage with diced bacon and chorizo, spring onion and seasoning and done on the iron griddle- it was really lovely but i had a few mouthfuls and could not eat anymore, i'm not as hungry as i thought and it was not as if it was a large serving either.. it is not like me to go off my food, since doing this low carb thing I have been hungry a lot of the time, anyone else had this?

Winnie - are you taking any Diabetes meds? If so, what do you take?

Personally, on no meds, I have never,"treated" anything under 4, unless I have felt off, which is incredibly rare.

I go under 4 most days for a while. Fine by me.

I take metformin ER , twice a day . I get dizzy and fear to collapse . That is why I treat it. Today I was at work preparing to leave and my commute involves taking a long bus ride followed by a walk .

So I felt it was safe to treat it. But reading your post makes me feel better about it. Maybe on a weekend and in a safe controlled environment when I’m not alone I have to try not treating a safe 4.5 and see what happens . Thanks for the tip !
I keep a honey jar under my bed in case and have a GCM that sends alarm.

I wonder if my work contributes to my hypos . It is very mathematical/analytical and I need to think very hard all day so I consume lots of sugar ( brain uses more sugar than muscles ). Sometimes I feel I can no longer walk It’s bad because treating it involves having sugar ( that I want to avoid ).

Indeed, my morning fasting blood glucose can be around 3.9 after not eating or drinking anything but water for 9 hours, and I feel fine. But I am taking no meds. Heck before lunch today I was 4.1 and felt fine, and that was after two bus rides and a bit of walking to and back from the GP.

Persônally? I would be sceptical about thinking hard causing low blood sugars, and, again, personally, I wouldn't call 4.0, or 3.9 a clinical hypo, whilst not on glucose lowering meds.

WhileMetformin oils the wheels of better blood glucose control by working on insulin resistance and down dialling the total glucose the liver contributes to the party, it isn't generally considered a blood glucose lowering med.

To be clear, some people do have "proper" hypos on Metformin, but to be perfectly candid, if I were taking meds, and experi Nic get low blood sugars I would be considering coming off them. I see zero point taking meds to help with a metabolic condition then, in essence, feeding the meds with the, very stuff we are trying to lower - blood glucose.

In your shoes, is be having a chat with whichever medic prescribed the meds.

Honestly I don't think of it as impressive, it's taken a heck of a lot of work, and I am still recovering from two months of strict keto. It ruined my gut, and raised my liver enzyme. The 3.9 fasting blood glucose was also about two weeks in to eating oatmeal and yogurt for breakfast, so I think that says something good about it. I am slowly adding back for low GI carbs, after testing my response to them and keeping detailed records. I know I will never be able to eat potatoes, or tropical fruit, or white rice. But I can cope with white corn tortillas, rolled oats and berries. Looking forward to testing how boiled sweet potato will affect me on the weekend, and I plan to try out quinoa and beans in the future.

Yes nothing increase my bg as much as potato. Just 1-2 fry or one spoon if mash potato and ny bg is to the roof . White bread does the same , maybe not as bad. But I can have rice . I miss bread but potato is not a huge heart breaker . Bread is and I’m super fussy about bread so substitutes won’t work

Well done with the diet .

Today trying to eat very little but not doing great as I cant fast. So far I have had lots of tea, two coffee with a little milk in all. Just had a small plate of iceberg lettuce, h/b egg, slice of ham with dollop of mayo. Plan earlier meal than usual of lamb chop and small feta salad later.

@miffli - Is that a yellow Labrador in your avatar? I've got a yellow Lab - an elderly girl - she'll be 11 next month.

Can I join the Tee 2 meter club - I've got one as well. Very reliable. Luckily I get my strips from my GP.

Wednesday 22nd January

Bed time last night: 6.0
FBG this morning: 6.0
B: was 80g blackberries, 100g Alpro coconut soya yoghurt and a sprinkling of flaked almonds, sunflower seeds and scrunched up walnuts
2 hours later: 5.3

L: 5.0
was green gloopy smoothie - forgot to put in the celery - oops

D: Will be the same as last night - lentil daal this time with Aldi's black bean spaghetti.

Drinks: Black decaff coffee and water - 16 days to go to the end of my Dry January - not that I'm counting or anything. ;) Mr C is talking about extending it to cover all of February :wideyed::rolleyes: but February has Valentines Day AND our anniversary in it - so not a chance!

I really am starting to believe that having this green gloopy smoothie at least once a day is somehow actually reducing and/or stabilising my BGs but I don't know how or why - especially as I often increase the apple from a quarter to a half AND add a few grapes or pomegranate seeds to make it palatable. I haven't actually calculated the carbs in it yet but before the green gloop I was having chaffles for breakfast (just 83g cheese and one egg) and 20-40g of cheese for lunch but both raised my BG. The BG effect of the gloop is actually the ONLY reason I can cope with the vile taste of it.

Well done with the diet .

My BGs react very badly to normal rice, pasta and bread but not so bad with potato. Rice and pasta can send my BGs up in to the mid to high teens and it can take a day or more to get over that high. Over the years I've found some acceptable subs for most carbs but I'm always willing to give anything a trial. For bread (which isn't often) I have either Burgen or Schneider Brot, for rice I have cauliflower rice with various flavourings (which we actually now prefer to normal rice), for pasta I have konjac spaghetti from Sainsburys. I only have potatoes occasionally but always roasted and only as a small part of a meal that also contains plenty of protein and fat - so, basically, a roast dinner - same with roast parsnips.

It really is fascinating our individual tolerances for starchy carbs. I cannot tolerate any amount of normal bread, potatoes, pasta or rice so I am so grateful for LivLife for a daily slice of toast and cauli rice to go with curry.

Bed 5.3 FBG is also 5.3. @ianpspurs - glad all is well. Was that your final procedure for now? The Deep Dive - it's going to last a few weeks but I've still to read the blurb on it. It won't be for another week and a bit anyway since I have to get on the same schedule as everyone else. Fear not, I will tell you when I go under . @Chook you're BGs are looking good. I agree that the gloop is certainly doing something. I'm the same with rice, pasta, bread etc. It was white bread that alerted me to the fact all was not well and led to a quick diagnosis. I was horrified at the amount of sugar in white bread. Like you, I'll very occasionally have maybe 1/2 a roast potato or 1 chip! Hubby admires my strength of willpower to eat 1 chip. I'm happy with the subs though. Guess I'm just used to it now.
Today's DD schedule. Fortunately, Hubby is at the football tonight as tonight's dinner would not suit him.
B. Just TAG - still no breakfast. Less of a miss today as I still have lunch to look forward to.
L. The Italian plate again. Pretty much zero carbs and very enjoyable.
D. Is odd as I said. 2 fried eggs, bacon, avocado, walnuts and peppers. Suits me as it's simple when it's just me tonight and may satisfy the no breakfast miss.

Hope your feeling brighter @PenguinMum. I was a bit down over Christmas. Just the time of year and memories but this DD Weight Loss for Good has given me focus again and the fact I've lost a few pounds helps.
