I have lost over 20kg since the beginning of December last year and I have worked my way down through the stack of jeans I grew out of on the way up - fortunately I kept them! However I have now shrunk out of the back catalogue.
I started off with my size 22 jeans being uncomfortably tight, and bought some size 16 yesterday expecting them to be a tad snug, but wanting to have them at the ready. In fact they fit really well and I’m gonna have to buy some size 14 to have in reserve! I haven’t been in a size 16 for well over 10 years.
I still have some ways to go, my first target is to lose another 7kg or so, then I can take up riding again once normality reasserts itself, assuming the stables are still operational. Then my final target is another 5kg after that. It seems attainable, something I could not have even imagined as a remote possibility, pre-diagnosis. My general health has improved in so many ways as well, either as a result of normalised BG or as a side effect of weight loss, who knows.
I would hesitate to say that I am ‘glad’ that I have type 2 - it’s still a potentially serious disorder after all, but I am immensely grateful for the wake-up call.
