So much gone to the charity shop. I have a box which I labelled up the "Too BIG Box" and I get a buzz from putting clothes in there ready for the charity shop. Last weekend we went to a Black Tie event and the Dinner Suit I was wearing I had way back in 1999 and its almost too big.

I've lost nearly eight kilos (17 pounds) in about six weeks and am nearly at my goal weight. I don't think I look ANY different but two people have commented, and it's bothering me. I don't want anybody to notice I've lost weight or comment because it makes me feel scrutinised (I know this isn't totally rational) and it makes me feel self conscious about my diabetes which I'm keeping a secret for now and like I could be exposed.

This is an interesting thread so I thought I would add my twopenno'rth!
I am now down to 173lbs and still hoping to lose a bit more but having had a bout of heart failure where I was seriously ill for quite a few weeks I am now disabled and it's much harder to do so.
I am determined to continue to plod on and hopefully get a few more pounds off which will help me move around better .. watch my progress on my blog "Granny Foxglove's Rants" :)

Still a work in progress but since Jan have lost 17kgs (over15% of total body weight). Need to lose another stone or more. Lost loads from arms and legs but belly fat is being particularly stubborn to shift.

If I remember rightly when I was diagnosed in Jan 2002 I was given metformin straight away. I lost 8lb then as I got fitter I lost 1½st but I was 19st on diagnosis from Xmas indulgence. So I kept fit but holiday'd alot and of course drank alcohol as I was in my early 30s with no children.
Only strict low carb eating lost me 3st but was told off by specialist who prescribes my insulin. And then metformin stopped working so..... I readded most of that 3st.
Losing again now from bariatric Roux-en-y and I'm at the weight lower than I remember.
*18mths ago I weighed 119.60kgs so next week I should smash my low carbing record.

Once my weight settles down from op I will maintain but if I feel I could benefit from low carb eating I will return to it but so far low carb and low calorie is working very very well with my aid of the op.

As of today I have just hit the 38kg, (6 stone or 84lb) weight loss mark since September 2019 and my T2 diagnosis. I have consistently lost about one stone a month. This has been through increased exercise (Now briskly walk 6-8km a day, 6 days a week) and a reduced calorie diet of about 1300 calories a day made up of no more than about 100g of carbs. I did have a relatively relaxed Christmas and have just had a week in Amsterdam were the Stroopwafel and Apple pie were just to compelling! So I have allowed myself to have some fun along the way!

It was interesting that two friends this weekend have both been complimentary about my weight loss but both have said 'I should stop now because I am getting too thin.' I know they mean well but I find it interesting how people have these perceptions of you and your 'size' and make bad value judgements based on them. Having gone from 20.5 to 14.5 stone I am still in the Obese range (BMI 31.9) and I still have something in the region of 20kg to lose to reach the top end of a 'healthy' weight. My next target is to be 'Overweight' by Easter! I am now fitter and lighter than I have been for very many years and hope that I am adding significantly to the quality (and hopefully longevity) of my later life. It seems strange that some people find this change hard to cope with.

Don't really know why I am posting this other than to perhaps encourage people who are losing to keep going and to accept the compliments if and when they come along. BUT do not to be put off or swayed by the comments about being too thin or needing to 'stop now.' when you have your target in mind and to keep on patiently explaining to friends and colleagues to except what is going to be, 'the new normal.'

As a T2 and diagnosed about 2.5yrs ago. I started Intermittent fasting about 6wks ago. I was 108kg when I started but have been stagnant at 107.1 for about 3wks. Then this morning I am down to 106.65, I must say I am not doing much excercise but doing well on non carbs foods.

Lost a pound? Great! Lost a stone? Awesome!

Share your victories here
Lost 6kg so far. Another 4kg will see me at a good weight, from back in the day, before the diabetes exploded into my life hehe.

On one bad xmas period I was nearly 23st but today I'm 15½st. I cannot believe that I'm really as light as I was in 1998/1999 when I was approved for IVF. I still feel 23st. if I was being honest. I need some time in front of a mirror, I think. My legs hv become skinny legs. I still feel my weight is all around my tummy. It needs to shrink too.
Not sure which weight I need to be. I feel once I hv less pressure on my tum then I've won this fight.
However I'm still very proud of my achievement. :) :) :)

So im about 5 stone down, but because i did it with diet and exerciser im also significantly fitter then i was. Seem to help me personally because i can now eat loads of stuff i could not, probably due to increased muscle mass and activity burning up all that stored glucose.

Had a burger in a bun last night as a treat, 4.9 2 hours later :)

I have lost over 20kg since the beginning of December last year and I have worked my way down through the stack of jeans I grew out of on the way up - fortunately I kept them! However I have now shrunk out of the back catalogue.

I started off with my size 22 jeans being uncomfortably tight, and bought some size 16 yesterday expecting them to be a tad snug, but wanting to have them at the ready. In fact they fit really well and I’m gonna have to buy some size 14 to have in reserve! I haven’t been in a size 16 for well over 10 years.

I still have some ways to go, my first target is to lose another 7kg or so, then I can take up riding again once normality reasserts itself, assuming the stables are still operational. Then my final target is another 5kg after that. It seems attainable, something I could not have even imagined as a remote possibility, pre-diagnosis. My general health has improved in so many ways as well, either as a result of normalised BG or as a side effect of weight loss, who knows.

I would hesitate to say that I am ‘glad’ that I have type 2 - it’s still a potentially serious disorder after all, but I am immensely grateful for the wake-up call.

Hi I was told i was Pre-Diabetic in March, and weighed 311lbs, i know it shouldn't have come as a shock being overweight and also working behind a desk allday with no exercise. My doctor showed me the Michael Mosley Fast800 diet and said it is good, so i thought i would give it a try, and it seems to work well, in 6 months i have lost 101lbs and still going, i just had the results of the latest blood test and i am no longer pre-diabetic (but only just with a reading of 41mmol/l). Since lock down i have also been exercising, at the start 2 out of 3 days and now 3 out of 4 days and have also started running, i managed a 6.5 mile (10K) 3 times in the last 2 weeks. Hopefully this will continue my original goal weight was 210lbs, but as i am now at that i think i will continue and hopefully see a better blood test result along with faster runs, and longer term to keep in the normal range and not to progress to being a diabetic.

I started losing weight about a few weeks into lockdown when the news articles started to really push hard how COVID was more of a risk for T2 who were heavier. I also had a hba1c of 78 and had extra drugs put into the mix. I was well on the way to insulin

I have, at my heaviest, been 111kg but was about 105kg when I started in earnest around 8th May.

First off I got an exercise bike, and started some walinkg. I now do a minimum of 30 mins exercise a day and my watch move goal I have set to 620. It keeps trying to go up but I am happy with that

I also found this site and read about low carbs, so dropped to 130g and currently 75 alongside a calorie goal of 1850.

I have my off days. Sometimes have Pizza Hut or fish and chips but mainly sticking to the salads and the meats/veg and it’s working. Starting to get a bit fed up of the foods so need to get the menu improved

today, 86.5kg. So total drop of 18.5kg. Hba1c is also now 46
BMI now overweight rather than obese and fit size 36 rather than 42.

Am now being told by some that I shouldn’t lose too much as I’ll look unhealthy. I had an aim of 70kg but I will see how it goes. I hope to drop my meds a bit too, need to chase up the nurse at some point

only problem is the tum and arms going a big “saggy”. I know it’s minor compared to some and I hope it will start to fix itself. I should just be happy
