@Chook & @DJC3 you both made me laugh. @Chook with the dog noises and @DJC3 - I can feel the grinding of teeth on isolation. I phoned Hubby's cousin yesterday to see how they are. Her entire family went down with what we think is the cold so they're isolating but she had me in fits if laughter because she said she didn't know if she could stand it. One week in and already she felt like murdering her Hubby. Then she added last night in bed I asked him if he got it and it was serious should I switch him off? He sat bolt upright and asked if she was trying to get rid of him. They do love each other. @ianpspurs I do hope your family are OK. It's a worrying time. @Goonergal & @DJC3 - I'm just having real problems shaking this off. That's 2 weeks now but at least I'm not ill all day now. I just want to get fit enough to do something without ending up close to collapse. I probably should be totally indoors for now but I'm the only driver for transporting stuff. I've been in all day today though. @Annb - were you being invaded by tourists? I notice they've been told to stay away and the ferries will only be for the islanders.
B. TAG. Skinny bread again but this time a BLT with mayo.
L. Nothing - having a funny turn again.
D. Roast duck, green beans and cauliflower cheese. Just had 100mls of Skyr which was pleasant on the throat.
Going off for my nightly hot shower.

Thanks @Tipetoo. They are Woolies online customers so should be fine I hope.

Hi All
@maglil55 sorry to hear you are still struggling. Its almost too cruel that as much as we worry about catching IT we also have to deal with other stupid viruses. This no testing doesnt allay our fears. I have had a very stressful day but wont go into it other than having set up to stsy homewith a plan in place I AGAIN had to deviate and go into harms eay. Aaaargh!
One light moment we had a Christmas dinner this evening, son couldnt get any chicken so bought a small frozen turkey crown so just had with sprouts and roasties (not me).
Take great care everyone, dont take ANY chances.

Bed 6.9 FBG 6.2. Saturday. @Goonergal glad to see you're getting back to normal. There is hope for me yet. @PenguinMum - I'm feeling reasonable most of the day, it's just if I tried to do something it knocks me for 6. Plus I have that daily weird hour where I just feel congested, exhausted and generally awful. All I did today was clean a shower room (much to Hubby's horror) and I had to lie down but feel OK again now. @DJC3 - I do hope your granddaughter is OK. My grandsons thankfully are showing no sign of illness. Despite feeling awful, I've lost another 2 lbs si I've shed 16lbs on the DD 10 week program. I'm going to keep it up but now we're in a phase of now what would you like but rather you'll eat what I can get.
B. TAG
L. Got another skinny bread made so had another tomato and mayo sandwich before transporting DIL to various places to shut down her clinic and see what we could find.
D. 2 GF sausages, fried egg and green beans.
Loads of water again.

Had another 2 encounters with inconsiderate sods today. DIL first when someone tried to pass her in a queue because she was "far away" from the person in front. She gave her both barrels about social distancing before telling her Back Off! I then bumped into an ex friend of my other SIL in Australia who has never made a secret of the fact she doesn't like me and the feeling is mutual. She was walking with someone and her husband and informed me that they were off to see if a certain restaurant was open but going to the pub first for a few drinks. Was my hubby in the pub? No, of course not. He's doing as advised by the government and staying safe. I thought at 76 and with was it a heart condition? You would be sensible to do the same? I got quite a glare but I hit the target.

Good for you @maglil55! I don't understand these eejits at all! OK - they are at liberty to put their own health at risk, but it's everyone else who suffers as a result of their thoughtless selfishness for whom it is not OK. Spoke to my brother in England earlier this evening and for once we agreed politically - he's very much a Tory and I am very much the opposite, But we agree that, since this is said to be a war on Covid19, wartime rules and laws should apply, ie no profiteering, no hoarding, no looting, strict rationing and restrictions where appropriate. Infringement should lead to prosecution. Trouble is - there aren't sufficient spaces in our prisons to deal with the miscreants! So I suppose, somehow, it has to become so socially unacceptable to more people so that the "baddies" don't do it. Or maybe those found guilty should be put into work squads, dealing with other folk who are suffering. I don't know, really. My brother told me that people where he lives are now being restricted to a certain number of each item (3 or 5, I think) and are taking their shopping out, loading their car and going back in to repeat the exercise and so by-passing the restrictions.

I tried to get an order from Tesco (the only shop to take online orders here) but still there are no slots for the next 3 weeks and their site doesn't display anything beyond that. Their website does say that people having to self-isolate can let them know and they will (presumably) make some arrangement. You just have to click on the box at the bottom of the webpage, But there isn't one. Really helpful. Out nearest "Click and collect" venue is in Ullapool - 40 miles away on the other side of the Minch - also very helpful.

Stay strong everyone and @maglil55 - please don't overdo the efforts you are making and make yourself ill again.

FBG was 8.4. Clearly it was gong to be a day of high readings for some reason.
Breakfast was some of my roasted veg again, in a foil tray and 2 eggs with some cream whipped together over them, and baked, so a kind of omelette. Not bad.
BG rising during the day to 14.2 before dinner. Dinner was lamb hotpot, to use up the 2nd "leg steak" in the pack that I bought. Lamb, 1 small carrot, 1 onion, one stick celery, half a butternut squash and a small bit of celeriac with some chicken stock. Plus a bit of black pudding (Hairy Bikers' idea) and a mild chili. Had about a third of it and plenty left for tomorrow and/or the freezer. Very tasty.

Pic (below) is of my spic and span cooking area, just before messing it up again preparing my hotpot.

Made very pretty food today!

I wanted to make a moussaka but when I went into the kitchen I found out I didn't have tomato passata or even canned tomato cubes, tomato puree or fresh tomatoes to substitute.
Meanwhile, I did have an aubergine that needed to be eaten (it's brother had already succumbed to time), I had already thawed the minced meat and I had a foul mood because of not having anything tomato in the house.

So I made up the meat with onion, cheese, garlic, chilli pepper and various spices to make meatballs but the foul mood made me not want the hassle with frying them so I tried my luck with some kind of meat loaf after adding some milk, an exta egg and cubes of feta.
I've never made meat loaf before but this won't be the last time!

Googling for ideas for my elderly aubergine I found those pretty aubergines where you leave the top attatched and put stuff between the sliced bottom. I used a spicy garlic oil and filled it with onion, bell pepper, feta and mushroom slices and put parmesan on top.

Because I'm quite proud of what I made I'll post pictures from both dishes as a whole and a picture of my plate.
I haven't posted on here for a while so I expect you guys don't mind the page filling :)

Don't know how many carbs, but I rose by 1 mmol/l after 1.5 hours, no insulin, so it can't be many.

Breakfast: Two egg, cheese and mushroom omelette, bacon, tomatoes.
Lunch: Cheese and vegimite sandwich.
Dinner: Last piece of marinated brisket, veggies.

Drinks: Black coffee no sugars, water.

The Federal government have ordered all clubs, pubs to closed from 12:00 pm today for the next six months, so no bowls no beer.
The two paid bar staff have lost their jobs... gaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!

@Annb - were you being invaded by tourists? I notice they've been told to stay away and the ferries will only be for the islanders.

Roast duck, Mmm!

DIL says lots of people have been coming to the Island to escape the virus. Of course, all they'll do is bring it with them. And of course, our medical services aren't up to coping with extra numbers of patients. And if the restaurants and pubs are closed, I don't know where they'll eat, unless B&B owners will help out. Maybe that's why DIL's laundry has been doing well these last few weeks - people staying in B&Bs and so on. Now that restaurants are having to shut down, there will be fewer items of table linen. It's a new business that she's been getting off the ground with her eldest daughter so she's hoping just to sit out the virus and start up again in earnest afterwards. I gather the ferries have accepted that they should only carry Island residents from now on, but they can carry the virus too. I think everyone should just sit tight and follow the recommendations.

DIL's eldest son (my son is her third husband and Em's father) is a student in Oban and works in a bar as well, so his college is closed, his job has disappeared and he is losing his accommodation. His Mum told him to come home, but he said he'd rather face the virus there, than come back. Can't force him. He's young and fit (apart from being a smoker) so he should be allright.

@maglil55 family ok and thanks for asking especially when you are having a difficult time with the mystery illness. On balance I normally prefer isolation to socialising - the salad is better. I just miss the sport.

So I've been cooking a bit the last few days and doing some real deep cleaning in my home amazing what you do when bored and worried about socializing among people with this coronavirus so the last week I've been limiting my movements.

I have been cooking up a storm for brunches I've made baked ricotta muffins. I cooked chopped hot soppressa salami then Combined 2 eggs about a cup of ricotta cheese chopped tomatoes and parsley seasoned with salt and pepper then baked in greased muffin tins my muffin tins are quite large so only made 3 ricotta muffins so brunch for next few days. Cook in pre heated oven 180° for about 30mins They tasted ok but next time I make them I will add some parmesan cheese as they needed some fruity nutty flavors that parmesan cheese brings to a meal, but otherwise they were nice to eat. I've also been cooking and eating steaks and coleslaw some homemade chicken broth. And Fridays dinner I made grilled barramundi and coleslaw. I also made yoghurt using full fat unhomganesed milk with cream. But stress is making me also over eat foods that I should not be eating I think its combination of being stressed with the going on with coranovirus and worried about my family and friends so been seeking comfort food which is not good as I am eating bad choices so I need to start posting more and hopefully get back 9n track.

Last Thursday I spoke to my GP who has recommended that I limit my travels at the moment due to being imune compromised as I've started two new treatment a few weeks ago for my UC and also being T2D she was concerned about me catching a train for my appointment with my Endocrinologist which is in Sydney but luckily Today received a call from the outpatient clinic advising my appointment with my Endocrinologist in Sydney he has arranged for a teleconference with me so no need to catch train on Wednesday so I am relieved about this as its 90 minute or longer trip on a crowded train. I've also been very lucky with lot of my local appointments ie my dentist and GP etc they have ensureed that my appointments for me are made so I'm first person in their clinic to avoid other people. Sadly I hate that I'm doing this as I love to socialise with others but it's the world we are living in now.

On Sunday we were told we are now in lockdown here in Australia something i was expecting they want to try and slow the curve so non essential services had to shut down from 12pm today but supermarkets chemists and other essentials can stay open, sadly a lot of people have lost their jobs because of covid-19 it has caused such massive sickness and damage to our world and our lives I hope we all can get through this. I'm Praying for a cure and that it stops spreading it such a worrying and serious time.

Its sad events have had to be canceled Even my nephew had to cancel his engagement party because of this. My mum turns 90 and Easter is off the agenda. But if this lockdown stops the curve it must be done. Its a very new world

One thing which is comforting is Woolworths have provided a service to be able to shop online for the elderly, disabled and compromised immune suppressant people. So submitted a request and it was approved. But haven't used it as yet I still want to still be able to have some social interaction but with social distancing but today I popped into my chemist thinking at 9 am it want be busy but it was and even trying to do social distancing was hard to do waited over 30 minutes to get my monthly supply of medication to say I was stressed is saying it I kept away from everyone but want be doing that next time I will drop script then come back to pick it up.

Have a look at this YouTube I thought this was of interest why it is so important that diet may help build your immune system which might help your body fight this covid-19 virus when or if you get it and avoid severe symptoms whilst waiting for a vaccine it talks about eating healthy foods, still do social distancing washing hands etc but try and keep your body healthy to try and fight this virus.

Sorry for long post I have not been on here for awhile but I think I need to get back onto posting again just been lost since my flare last year and trying to find food I could eat again but realise it helps jotting down what you eat so you can try make better choices.

Thank you For those who have continued to read my post

Take care everyone and stay safe ☆♡☆♡

Good to see you back online, Annabell. Sorry to hear about the difficult choices you are having to make but, as you say, we have to do these things if we want to combat this virus. Good that Wooolworths are setting up a scheme which might help you. It is difficult to think of not being with even our nearest and dearest, especially when there is an emergency, but it is for everyone's good and you are, obviously, among the socially responsible people who are sticking to the rules - unlike quite a lot of others we are hearing about.

FBG was 7.8 - better than yesterday.
Breakfast was one slice of black pudding, 2 slices of apple and 2 eggs - all fried in butter. Thought that would keep me going all day but felt v hungry and had some RyVita and marmite to keep me going until dinner time.
Dinner will be another portion of the hotpot I made yesterday.

I usually get my hair cut at home but my hairdresser just called to cancel the appointment. I thought she would have to, so it wasn't a surprise but that's her income completely cut off now. Not sure what help there will be for the self-employed.

Pretty sure I will be quite scruffy by the time this is over.:eek::eek::eek::eek:

Does anyone remember Tony Hancock (Hancock's half hour on, probably, the Home Service way back when, and on BBC TV)? I didn't find him very amusing so didn't listen to it often nor did I watch it. But I did see one famous sketch - "The Blood Donor" in which he sang the slogan "Coughs and Sneezes spread Diseases...." to a tune by Haydn. That did amuse me and now, as I wash my hands, each time, I find myself humming that tune and sometimes singing the words. Cheers me up anyway. Not sure what it does for Neil.

Hi all

Good to see you back @annabell1

Bit more restrained eating wise today.

Brunch was smoked salmon and cream cheese and a pack of cheesies.
Dinner was slow cooked lamb shoulder with a dessert of Lidl 95% chocolate mixed with extra thick double cream.

We put a online shopping order in at Woolies under this priority home delivery service, we waited a day for the shelves to be restocked after the weekend. We got eight substitutions, except for there being no toilet paper or paper towel still.

All of the delivery windows for yesterday were gone, as were the early morning ones for this morning (Tuesday) ours is coming between 10:00 - 13:00 under this service.

Hi All
Well turkey dinner yesterday so lots of cold leftover turkey to bag up. Did a turkey, chorizo & red pepper pasta for Mr PM and friend tonight. I had turkey and brocolli. I am enjoying the challenge of this Ready, Steady Cook daily using stuff in date order and combining where appropriate. Just hope the supply of any food keeps going.

Good to see you back @annabell1. We're in the same boat too with non essential places closing. Pharmacies are one out one in so it takes awhile. You're certainly not alone in the way you feel. It's a very surreal time and all we can do in follow instruction and wait but take care of ourselves. @Annb - I'd been doing Coughs and sneezes with the boys and they'd been reciting it to their classmates (this was early on in this outbreak).
I'm still not right and still taking these funny turns. I remained indoors again but both Hubby and son reckon I'm not eating enough to give my body the energy to get over this. I'm prepared to accept they may have a point as I do feel better when I eat something. I did attempt to do some ironing today but couldn't finish it despite sitting down.
Bed 5.1 FBG 5.6.
B. TAG
L. Slice skinny bread with pate
D. Zoodles carbonara (another DD recipe). Hubby is insisting I have Skyr later.
Today was the first official day of home schooling. I've been amused with some of the photos that have been sent. It's gone well. English this morning involved the boys reading together and big brother teaching the smaller one to read and write new words. Great excitement when the little one showed off his skills with a new word. Suffice to say it was a typical boy, schoolboy humour word which required some hidden hilarity from Mum & Dad and a tear as well as the little one went on to do this for his story. Translation "I love you for my teacher because you are Mum - I love you". Kind of Awww.
