I do wonder how alcohol dependents (alcoholics still drinking) are actually coping if unable to obtain drink. Withdrawing from alcohol can be very dangerous, just like any other drug.

To be honest, I do think these times of restrictions - whether by social distancing, isolation, inability to get deliveries or quantity restrictions in shop will flush out a whole raft of dependencies; some more worrying than others.

These are challenging times for so many, in so many ways.

Minimal compromise for us. It looks like we are one of those horrible hoarder type who take more than our share.......however our butcher and fish monger have had their market area closed. My wife setup an order system with them both to get fish, meat and eggs to our village (win, win). I am working with the butcher and fish monger to create an online version of what we have done manually.

I hope that when COVID has run its course more people continue to use local resources.

Well I'm still on a small amount of insulin which considering a fairly new one I've had no delivery problem. Yogarts are my staple diet with chicken and cod, salmon and mackerel; with the odd lamb dropped off the bone cooked in slow cooker.
Tesco hv sourced nuts throughout this period of post war generation hoarding. Many in my area they hv hoarded on high carb foods including dry pasta. Yes, so that's where its gone! Still sitting on their shelves at home. Some probables gathering dust right now. Although mind u if sources dry up we know who will not starve, eh?
I'm very very fortunate that I hv 3 different eaters in our family unit which would hv to self isolate (long-term) together.
Post war dieters, 70s on high carb but now low carb and kids which need a balanced diet without high carb based meals.

Don't you think this war on the virus has shocked the world into saving the planet and ourselves?

Mother nature at her finest. She always causes deaths though.... I think it's about time she was renamed.
Any ideas?

I cannot get my usual Asda delivery so I'm having to go out to Town to get frozen food from iceland. Asda has always been 2 taxis for me.... even before all this. Due to cuts on bus services from austerity.

Only things I've struggled to get is ground almonds for making my scones and bread, but finally got some. The other thing I can't get hold of is Broghies, which I'm very much missing.

This won’t help anyone really but I wanted to share with someone as I was blown away by this

my dad died Christmas Eve, we used Co Op funeral care to lay him to rest, I live about 50 mile away so not my local one.
Anyway today I get a phone call from the parlour I used to ask if I was managing and if I needed anything - said I was doing ok but thank you so so much for thinking of me. The lady said if I did need anything in the future just to call and the guys in my area would do anything they could to help me - truly amazing human kindness xx

I put this in general chat but thought it’s worth posting a link here too it may be helpful to someone, fresh food delivery firm delivers to most of north England

https://butlerslarder.co.uk/delivery/
Brilliant!Thank you.
Great to support independent producers of real food, who actually seem to care about their customers.

edit for punctuation error. I don’t doubt I have missed some more.

It's a shame there isn't the will to put so much effort into tackling the real scourge of humanity. That which kills millions more than coronavirus could ever hope to, year in, year out. Metabolic syndrome. All the more irksome since it appears it's actually a big risk factor in CV19 susceptibility. Yet it's barely mentioned in the mainstream. We're willing to cripple world economies to prevent the spread of coronavirus, whilst at the same time a metabolic firestorm continues to engulf the planet unchallenged as we just shrug our shoulders and carry on.

We use Grapetree for nuts and other things - my husband loves the winegums. As the things are long storage life we can put in an order a couple of times a year and get free delivery. Their products seem high quality.
I checked on their website and there is a couple of weeks waiting time as they are in high demand, but I think this is going to go on for a while so it might be worth putting in an order.

Only because ignorance over fault deems this so. I hear none diabetics still saying type2 is self inflicted. As, if it was them.. they'd not nor never overeat. Still not realising the hunger is caused BY the disease which then kick starts a loop of causation (hunger from too much insulin which overeating feeds IR, then weight gain increases IR causing liver to over-react response to release more insulin to counteract glucogen overflow). Oh they'd never overeat and those who do hv self inflicted. REALLY.
Until they get it, they'll never WANT to understand. Sad but true.
However corona virus cannot be helped right. What if I had their bad attitude and said because they socialised with mankind too much then that is self inflicted. See. How ridiculous we'd sound. If only diabetes was more socially accepted like socialising and passing on germs! I agree.

Now I'm at target weight from op I hv fruit or no added sugar 0% fat ones. At first I had vanilla or a blended quarter of small banana or a nut or 2 added to vanilla for fibre. This was when 3 teaspoons filled me to the brim.
