I'm 61 and I was diagnosed T2, 34 years ago, whilst not being overweight. In recent years, I did have some weight issues but, having gone low-carb, am back at my pre-diabetes weight.
I fell foul of Covid-19 at the end of March. The cough, a mild temperature, crackly and sore chest whilst breathing and massive fatigue, all topped off with absolutely no sense of smell or taste for 12 days. The day I got my senses back, I also got a huge energy burst, as the fatigue melted away.
I know that I, and my family were lucky, in that we only got "Covid-19 lite".
Recently, watching the stats and reading reports about this virus, I was concerned by the figures suggesting that between a quarter and a third of fatal victims of Covid-19 were diabetics.
I have also heard doctors talking about "The ring of death", that being the large amount of belly fat that afflicts the obese.
The question that I must ask is, How many of the Diabetics who have died from Covid-19 were obese?
In my mind, the thought is very many of them.
Can anyone furnish me with the facts which can prove or disprove my thoughts.
I would be grateful to be pointed in the right direction, if my current thinking is wrong.
