Concentrate on getting your blood glucose levels right. Weight loss will follow.

Listen to Jo, she knows her stuff. I lost more weight than I have ever achieved through exercise simply by switching my diet to a ‘diabetes aware’ diet. That includes both previous attempts at low calorie dieting and exercising.

Honestly, I can tell you that it will work, but you need to make sure everything is working together.... so that includes diet, medication and also exercise. Each of these things will have effects so you’ll need to work out what works for you.

I have never used insulin so I cannot comment or given you much advice but I would encourage you to take very seriously the diet strategies shared on these pages. I wouldn’t eat pastries, and also no wraps for now! It’s hard but it is worth it in the long run.

Anyway, I just wanted to lend my support and say that I’m rooting for you and know that it can be done, you sound like you’re motivated so keep that up and with that mindset results will follow.

I am determined to get this all under control, I don't care about food I will give it up to feel better, I shall try my very best to get my weight down and get this diabetes controlled before it's to last, I'm only in my 20's so I really don't want to get it out of control yet, my dad is 50 and he is happy on medication but I'm wanting to turn this around it will take time but I'm going to have to do something. I'm happy for you that its worked for you.

Are you carb counting for the novorapid? It doesn't sound like it.

Can you test for ketones? The dipsticks aren't much cop. You need a meter but the strips are expensive.

Can you post a record from your libre to show your graph?

Do you have a Specialist Diabetic Nurse at your surgery? I only found out when I went on steroids, she visited the surgery once a month. If you have, ask for an urgent appointment.

If you get readings in the mid twenties or more, I would phone 111 for advice.

I have a diabetes nurse, but unfortunately the advice she has given me you wouldn't like, she has told me to have 45g of carbs with each meal and shes not given me no advice on low carb at all.

I thought I had a diabetes nurse too. You need to ask if they have a Specialist DN. There is a heck of a difference.

Churning out the same old outdated rubbish. Ring 111 for advice the next time you go high.
