Sorry to hear your news @Albee7740 sending you love and hugs. Do speak to your diabetic team about your management as they can offer support in managing your levels :)

It's been a long time since I first posted this thread. With help from this forum and its members I managed to get my HbA1c to 40 and the specialist said it is ok to try to conceive so I just have to keep up with what I'm doing (husband and consultant think I can cut back on the number of times a day I am testing, but I know that this is what is keeping me on track) and keep fingers crossed that at 41 years old and with diabetes its not to late to have a baby

Hoping all goes well for you - the advice not to test was poor when first given - and it hasn't got any better over time.
I ate low carb foods all through my first pregnancy and was considered to do extremely well all through - though I did not limit the amount, just kept to low carb salad and veges with some fruit. My son is over 6 ft tall - I was told that low carb stunted growth, told very forcefully in later years - yeah - right.

LOL at over 6ft not sure how anyone could claim that low carb stunted his growth!

I'm going to be sticking to eating low carb as a way of life. I mentioned it to the specialist at the antenatal diabetes clinic and was expecting to be told off, but he simply smiled ...... I read that as agreement that low carbing was the way forward but his professional guidelines wouldn't 'allow' him to verbally agree.

Hi all

It has been a long time since I started this thread and the world has changed around us considerably! I just wanted to share a happier ending than my last few messages.......

I am pregnant again, my HbA1c was 50 when last checked so a bit higher than the recommended 48 or below but still not too far out of range! I have been really anxious about how things are progressing and had an early scan today at 8 weeks and there was a heart beat!!!! I feel like we can finally feel more comfortable that a baby may soon be joining us!

That's wonderful @Albee7740 ! I'll do some more finger and toe crossing again to have that baby spending the next 6 or 7 months snugly in your belly!

Hi everyone. I’m looking for some advice. I am 11 weeks pregnant. Type 1. I had a miscarriage last year so beyond worried at any little change at the moment! I have been having a lot of hypos between meals. I’m on an insulin pump and CBG. I am worried that because my pump suspends when hypo, I then rise up to 8,9,10 at the next BG check. Last night my pump had suspended for a while while I was hypo, then resumed with the result that my BG was above 10 for a few overs over night. My consultant is only concerned with the pre and post meal BGs which are good. Can anyone tell me if these highs in between could be damaging my little one. I’m in a panic this morning.

Hi, try not to stress. Is there any way you can change the settings so your pump switches back on before your BS go higher? I don’t have this feature on my pump so not sure. I wouldn’t be too worried if your diabetes team aren’t concerned, but I would say that your pump settings need altering, maybe ask your consultant how to do this and just explain to them that you are concerned about your BS going this high even if they are not? x

Thank you all. I’m now 11 weeks and 3 days pregnant and have a scan this Thursday - feeling a little worried as not felt any nausea for a couple of days but trying not to think of the worst.

Thank you myarnton1 for the offer of answering questions - you may come to regret it!

Like you I have been having hypos between meals - my consultant said that hypos don’t impact on baby but are not good for the mum. I’ve tried to keep that in mind and it’s helped me to feel a bit less stressed.
