Re: Type 2's : What was your fasting blood glucose in a morn
What are you eating at the moment, chrissie1stella? You could maybe start off by reducing your carb intake - say to 150g or 100g a day, see how you go on that, and take your carbs lower if it seems to suit you.
You'll need to buy a Carb Counter book - Collins have a pretty good, pocket-sized one in their Gem series.
As you'll have probably gathered, some of us on here are very happy on a very-low-carb diet. I aim for below 50g daily, and preferably around 30g. I'm 18 months in to it this time, and all my blood tests are fine. My GP knows I'm doing it and he's happy too!
Other people prefer to eat more carbs but stick to the low GI ones, which affect blood glucose more slowly. Grazer, for instance, aims for about 150g a day and does very well on that.
Have a read around on the Low-carb forum on here, and get some info from that. The diet I use (
Viv's Modified Atkins Diet) is a sticky thread on there. Also look at the Non-low carb forum and see what other people do, so you can make your mind up.
Don't be afraid to ask more questions - people are only too willing to help!
