Not new to type 1 diabetes. Had it for 31 years. I am so depressed. I need a bit of support to keep this going. I want a break so badly. Please. If anyone else is exhausted....thanks.

Thanks so much for the support. What would I do without you.

There's more T2's on the forum than T1's, (Basically because there's more of one than the other in general as it is) and a lot of people aren't on on weekend mornings... (I'm a T2 myself, and thus quite useless to you.) Which might explain why no-one's replied as yet. I'm actually taking a little break from the forum, as it was starting to get to me a bit emotionally, but I'm so used to clicking the link when I start up the computer, that I saw your cry for help regardless, and decide to log on.... And I have no answers for you, not about diabetic burn-out, which you seem to be experiencing.

I have been struggling with depression for basically all my life though. I know it's hard, and I know reaching out is a first step. And a hard one to make, especially when you feel there's just crickets in reply. Hang in there. Though yeah, T1's going to be with you always, these feelings won't be. Honest. I'll always have a clinical depression, but it waxes and wanes. I have good days. Which is why I'm confident things can get better for you too. Just hang in there. Try and keep your blood sugars under some sort of control, as high blood sugars feed into depression, anxiety and moodswings. I know it's a big ask, but it's a relatively small step to get to the light at the end of the tunnel.

Also.... You might want to see someone who can sign off on prescriptions. Sometimes we just need a little extra support in a medical sense. Antidepressants and the like weren't invented for the heck of it. And from what i understand there are shrinks that specialise in diabetic burn out.... Your team might be able to refer you to one.

I'm logging off again, because I have to take care of myself for a while, but.... I advise you to do the same. Not the logging off part. The taking care of you bit. Go for an early morning walk when the world's still asleep the next time you get a chance. Breathe a little. Do something you know you would enjoy if it weren't for your current state of mind. After a while, enjoyment tends to seep back in.

Wishing you well,
Jo

I’m another type 2 so not much help. Happy to ‘listen’ if that would help.

I also get sick of my condition. My birthday is coming up. No cake or takeaway for me. My work colleagues will bring in a cake to celebrate but not for me

the truth is any chronic condition sucks sometimes. What is it that is bothering you the most at the moment.

Welcome to the forums.

Yes, feel free to have a vent. T1 officially sucks and some days more so than others. Most of us have bad days (weeks, years?) sometimes and then have to struggle on anyway. It's a shame that you can't "give up" T1 just as a smoker or a drinker can give up nicotine or booze (not meaning any insult to those who struggle through withdrawal symptoms for legal but addictive drugs.)

Personally, I hate hypos the most. I HATE HYPOS!!! (And then the hypers, and the days when you correct with insulin and NOTHING happens, and.....)

Whatever you've experienced with T1, you're probably not alone, as there are a lot of us out there.

ps I was diagnosed at 8 too....:)

8years of age is clearly the age to get type 1! As I am another

I recently was going through a burn out stage, just keep ploughing through, you got this far. As exhausting as it feels, it's a phase that you can get through and don't forget you have support.

... And hi
