Hi all recently joined and posted the other day about possibly having a diagnosis of ore diabetes

I’m having a glucose tolerance test done tomorrow as I had high fasting glucose at 8.8 hba1c was 46
I’ve just looked back on my previous results for hba1c tests and for the last 3 years they have been consistent at around 38 in April this year it was 39 and beginning of August so only a month ago it was 41 so it’s gone up quite quickly is that normal?

I feel awful and have done now for about 5 months but it’s becoming more frequent so...dizzy, blurred vision massive upper weight gain (was tested for Cushings but was negative) red stretch marks on tummy upper pain and massive abdominal bloating I like like I’m 9 months pregnant sometimes no appetite and feel a bit sick but then other times really hungry
Periods have stopped for 6 months, headaches, tingly hands, feel like I cannot always take a deep enough breath, no energy always tired walking up the stairs does me in heart palps shaky sweating they say it’s not the menopause and I’ve had an pelvic ultrasound which showed PCOS but no otter issues

I have autoimmune hypothyroid too which I take t3 and t4 for

Does this sound more like type 1 rather than type 2 and if so other than a OGTT what other tests do I need to confirm which type?

All other bloods are normal including cholesterol and liver tests

Thanks x

What are your vitamins and minerals like? B12 and D, and where are your thyroids currently sitting? When were they last done?

I was diagnosed type 2 in 2016 and over the last four years have progressed to type 1, I was told all patients are diagnosed as type 2 and stay like that unless things start to change in the first year my medication was changed and the amount i took, it seemed every 3months my body changed and then in in 2017 a year after diagnosis i suffered keotIsis a night in hospital and discharged back to GP , the following ten weeks of change of medication the grand i took and extra times a day made no difference except I had lost 3.5 stone, so another trip to hospital for a day assessment led to the diabetic nurse there saying let's not beat about Bush and started me on slow release insulin, everything fine till January this year when habnc came back high one discussion later with diabetic nurse who sought opinion from specialist and Apr 2020 found me adding a fast release insulin to the mix, like you i have found the whole thing a roller coaster ride and an waiting for the day my body says i happy now live your life, asked why me they replied it could be connected to a automunne illness i had as a child 52yrs ago and although my pancreas is still producing it is tired and may one day in the future give up all together it's a waiting game

Hi. Obviously your condition is more complex than 'just' diabetes. I don't feel there is any indication of T1 from what you say and your HBa1c is still non-diabetic although rising slowly. The excess weight is more typical of T2 but could be an associated condition. I would stay with a low-carb diet and await more investigation of your overall medical condition.
