Hi all,

I’ve seen a couple of people mention that in addition to long and short acting insulin pens they use intermediate acting insulin to help manage things like dawn phenomenon.

Would anyone be able to give me anymore information about this?
What insulin do you use?
Did the DN recommend it or did you have to ask for it?
How does it work in relation to long acting...do you take less or keep that the same? I’m assuming there is a lot of trial and error at first as always.

Thanks everyone,

Nomi

I have never heard of anyone using an intermeddiate acting insulin along side a basal/bolus regime

Intermeddiate mixed insulin are generally given twice daily and you kind of have to stick to the same amount of carbs, it isn't very flexible at all and I highly douby any medical proffesional would advise using it while using a basal/bolus regime
