Really hope he shows no symptoms @LooperCat, though the current crop of coronas doing the rounds may provide a bit of diagnostic fudge without a test. If he’s clear then you’ve already got a Brexit store ready - win win
Aye, the Brexit cupboard has been renamed the CoronCupboard! Until the end of the year when I suspect it’ll revert to its original name :(

Not much to report here, I start a new three week clinical placement with a nightshift tonight (assuming manchild doesn’t start getting symptoms) so really looking forward to that. Diabetes ok, has a slight blip last night when I forgot to dose for a bag of Bombay Mix and hit 18. But it was on a 2 hour sensor warmup, so doesn’t count :D Loop brought me down safely overnight and I was at a tidy 5.7 this morning.

Now to make a quick vegan “lamb” vindaloo for my 2am mealbreak and I’m off to bed for a few hours. Have a good one, friends x

It’s Good News Day. Other than all the updated disasters the song lists, grandson’s test result is back and it’s negative. Hooray! Please don’t tell me how flawed the tests are; son-in-law can cease isolating from the rest of the family (if it came back positive the whole school where son-in-laws the Head would have to close as he has contact with each and every bubble).
Yes, it’s hot. We’ve had a glut of courgettes, and to tell the truth I’m a little sick of cooked courgette with every meal so this afternoon there’s a courgette and lemon cake cooking in the oven.
I wonder what courgette steeped rum is like. Or courgette soufflé. Or courgette and ginger yoghurt.

@Fairygodmother Sounds like courgette (zucchini here) steeped rum could be a hit with a lot of people! I remember getting courgette from a friend that had it grow crazy one year, and another year it was Kale from another friend lol. I got pretty sick of both Courgette and Kale those years!

But here's another idea Ha ha!

Marrow Rum

Full disclosure!!! No I've never made any booze, so I have no idea if this will work or if it's even a good recipe or turns out safe or anything about it at all, I just plugged in Marrow Rum and it popped up. I at times smiled and then said yuck reading through the instructions!

Can I just say that, after 178 days apart, the most amazing scenes were in evidence at work today as the returners began to return. Remind me when they are all at odds with each other by the end of tomorrow, that they really were delighted to be back today and even the most unlikely people were grinning at each other with much joy. And, um, despite our best efforts to prevent hugs I am so pleased we failed in two cases. Because that was a scene I would never have believed possible last year.

My Brexit supplies have also been renamed "Possible 2-week isolation with no notice" supplies! Plus, I'm keeping up my insulin ordering at the lockdown levels in case of need for both circumstances. I'd let it run down slightly, but definitely feel better with the 6 months worth my former Utterly Splendid GP hinted would be sensible.

The district nurse who rode her bicycle around the lanes when my sister was a baby used to make marrow rum. Marrow booze anyway. There was a marrow that hung from the eaves of her bungalow, it had been hollowed out and filled with sugar. The drips were collected in a jug below it. I’m not sure I’d have wanted any as it was a veritable fly trap, but she and her companion were hale and very hearty.

Yippee! Yippee! yippee!!!! The shelves in the room are finally all done and it just needs paint which they are doing right now!!! One guy has started on the floor in the other room. But at least the room with all the shelves is done and if we have to we can paint it! So cross my fingers and the flooring and the wall gets replaced in the other room next!!!!

All painted, except for a few movable shelves and a second coat above a more difficult blinds area! Today I think all finishing touches should be done!!!!! The second room started, Red Guard applied onto the second room floor. Prep for tile to be put in. That second room has me a little worried. But the carpet mysteriously would be wet (no dogs in room ever, door kept closed), but the carpet would have this about 6 inch spot of being wet 2 feet from the wall. Same spot a few times. The wall was never wet , the roof was never wet, no sign of where it would come from. The baseboards even when pulled off are not wet and no signs of being wet. So how was the spot in the carpet getting wet? So we thought maybe a leak from the cement under? But no holes in the cement, but Red Guard inside just in case. I'm hoping some Red Guard applied outside will solve it as my hubby and the Handyman seem to think it will.

Morning friends. Sugars been running a little high for the last few days, not sure why. Maybe I’m fighting a low level lurgy, but no symptoms of anything other than being bone tired.
Son in isolation after being in prolonged contact with a confirmed plaguecase in his class, which means no more sending him to the shop on little errands. And my county goes into lockdown tonight, thanks to a rugby club trip and pub crawl to Doncaster races. Unimpressed.
I’m back on clinical placement - first shift back was a nightshift on Monday. Helped deliver my first baby, which was a real privilege. I didn’t do much other than get kit ready and teach the (very) hapless dad how to put a bottle together. But still. A real honour. Rest day today, popping out to pick up a few bits and bobs later and getting a very early night as I’m on days tomorrow, which means a 4am start! Ugh.
Stay well x

Aww that's lovely @LooperCat, as you said a real privilege.
Do hope you and your family remain free from Covid. Take care and look after yourself. Sending big hugs.
Sorry you have to go back into lockdown because of others selfishness, unfortunately it's happening across the country in one way and another.

Local lockdown here as well, but the only difference it's making to me is my 2 piano pupils' parents are not remaining in my house whilst we have the lessons. Given I decided "bubbling" wasn't a goer as the only people I'd like to bubble with are miles away, I declined all kind offers from those who don't get I enjoy my own company and think I should have more socialising.

We're not exactly doing well with social distancing at work, but it's the nature of my students. We're trying, honest we are. . I am fully PPE'd up for some tasks, and wearing a face covering if I am in the lift with one student. Plus we're now trying to decide which of our workplace zones will be the first to fall prey to the first confirmed case.. I reckon it's my zone as we are the poorest at the social distancing within the college, for excellent reasons. But it was pointed out the far end of the campus, with the higher number of more independent students was also a good contended.

We are, however, doing excellently well with the new rules and systems with a number of my current ones gleefully enjoying telling me when I'm the wrong side of the line, or forgotten which way round the system I'm meant to be!!

The major island went into a partial lock down again a couple of weeks ago. They all of a sudden were getting 300 cases a day and the hospital filled to 90% capacity so it scared them. I guess we have some outpatients clinics that can easily be converted but not the staff to staff them. That is the major worry on all the islands, that we wouldn't have enough hospital beds if we have tourists that get sick too. They are down to 100 cases a day already so it is working. Our island has been really strict with tourists and travelers, so we do not have any cases here.

Our schools are doing distance learning which our island is objecting too. Since we have no cases residents are saying we should benefit with the schools at least being partial in person. I would have to say I agree with them. I know the success of distance learning has not been good in the states so far. Our island is really safe right now, it seems like the schools opening should be another step for us.

Morning, am I first on parade? Dayshift today, deciding whether the wear contact lenses or glasses (I’m trialling lenses because masks make my glasses steam up). Eyes tired from yesterday, so might not. Sugars still on the high side so am running my shark week 150% override even though it’s not that time. Have a good one, friends...
