Hello all,

@Annb -- So sorry you are feeling poorly.
@maglil55 -- This must have been a really scary experience. So sorry you had to go through this. Hugs (though I truly admire your positive attitude).
@DJC3 -- I was imagining some type of meat-infused gin, tbh:).

Found some new exciting stuff on a keto website -- will probably order some of this. The order would include chicken crisps, apple-ginger dip and some mandarine orange flavored dark chocolate (the last two sweetened with a mixture of erythritol and stevia).

Today ...

Breakfast: A double decaffeinated espresso with cream and erythritol.

Lunch: Nothing.

Dinner: A skirt steak (about 100g), a side of baba ghanoush. Romaine lettuce with h/m Caesar's dressing, parmesan and fried mushrooms. Some dry red wine.

okra. Cigarette smoke, old, new, and permeating a room, wafting from a balcony, etc etc. That I have so many chronic diseases. That I take so very many meds. Being cold. Anything too loud, but specifically non-classical music and the television.
@ianpspurs I realize that Friday will hurt you more than it hurts the dogs, if I read you right! But really, a whole haunch? May I bring my cats (all the many males of which never noticed what happened to them) to this celebration?
@DJC3 and @ziggy_w how about "pot 'likker' ? "meat infused gin" lolol
@maglil55 yep we're talking the same vehicle. I cannot imagine how terrifying that was. Not sure I have the constitution to be positive as you are.
@Annb I'm so sorry you weren't feeling well. Glad Em could manage herself; if she were a needy child the day would have been endless...
Bfast avocado, pecans, watched the kitchen witch finally boil eggs and ate two, 1 sq Lindt 90%, flax crisps/dilute soy
Lunch cucumber, peanut butter and some with butter tsk tsk
Supper leftover chicken from soup/mayo, spinach/hm dressing, unnecessary provolone, flax crisps/dilute soymilk
And a raid into a forbidden package. Mea culpa.
Sleep well all; good morning with sunrise! Anybody watching Mars, so big and red?

@Annb sorry your tum has been bad and hope you are better today. I loved reading about Em and Pengie and glad she is looking after our species though PE is a bit much lol. Thanks @ianpspurs taking it easy mostly though had a pleasant hour raking acorns yesterday. @maglil55 that was very scary about those accidents and TG you lived to tell the tale.
today I am eating my usual slice HiLo toast, butter & tea.
Lunch will be soup made with shallot, leek, broccoli & parsley using the brilliant chicken stock from the carcass at the weekend.
Supper is a mystery right now, something to do with eggs probably.

FBG 12.5.

Breakfast 2 rashers streaky bacon and a fried egg plus one strawberry and one raspberry.

Probably will have some more raspberries during the afternoon.

Dinner - I'm going to try that corned beef base for a quiche. Must be careful about veg in the quiche though. Mushrooms should be OK and a little onion. Shan't bother with any cheese - there's going to be plenty of protein in it anyway.

Neil has just given me a smaller version of the copperstone frying pan that he gave me a couple of days ago. He said he reckoned the first one was too big for everyday use. I actually used it (the bigger one) to fry my egg this morning, although I used the microwave for the bacon to get it nice and crispy. It worked very well with no oil and nothing stuck to the pan.

It's noticeable, @zauberflote, that most of the time, Em wants to play active games or wants help with one of her "projects", but, although I didn't tell her that I was feeling unwell, she seemed to sense it anyway and made no demands (other than accept the care she was offering - a glass of apple juice(!), a cup of tea, and would I like a biscuit). She is a very caring child. At present she wants to be a vet because she wants to care for sick animals. Despite this, she is very matter-of-fact when it comes to animals being slaughtered for food or when the death of a loved pet has to be accepted.

She told me that she was (pretending to be) the penguin's mum as well as Pengie's teacher and was delighted when I told her that I knew of someone on this forum who used the name "PenguinMum".

Evening all. Haven’t posted here for a couple of days.

TMAD today. Lunch was mince fried with a few onions. Some leftover corned beef and 2 eggs. Scoffed down far too fast to take a pic.
Dinner was beef short ribs cooked to perfection in the instant pot.

And just got a text confirming Morrison’s order will be delivered in its entirety with no missing items or substitutions. Yay!

Editing to add pic.

Monday bed 6.5 FBG 6.2 - @zauberflote, @ziggy_w & @PenguinMum - oddly I wasn't frightened at all in the crash. I was perfectly calm which was probably what saved me. When he hit the first time he sent my car into a spin. I knew there were cars ahead and to my right so the only way to go was try to spin the car into the inside lane (which I did). Unfortunately, Attila then swerved back before I could get out of the car and over the barrier so I had to wait to get sent sideways down the M6 wrapped around the front of his wagon. I always remember saying to the police sargeant should he not be breathalysing me? No, he said it was the best bit of driving he'd seen in a while and (no offence meant) but he was surprised to see a female driver. He did ask how I knew my position in the spin - easy! Every time I saw headlights I was the wrong way around and in the wrong lane. It didn't hit me until later. Anyway,

B. TAG and 2 slices of SLC toast with ox tongue and coleslaw.
L. Lotus biscuit
D. A repeat of yesterday, cauliflower mash, green veggies and the remains of the Hairy Biker's Feather Blade beef. It was even better second day having been bathing in the sauce overnight (the beef that is - not me). 2 squares 85%.

@Annb - glad to read you're feeling better again. Em really is a delightful little girl. I've got the boys tomorrow afternoon as both Mum & Dad have to work.

Today was a perma-hungry day, so whilst I had nothing tooooo off-piste, there was just a lot of it.

Brekkers -A vat of home made Greek style yoghurt, with a cranberry (wonderfully tart) coulis
Lunch - Mega salad with what could have been a whole truckle of Tickler cheese, with a chilli dressing
Dinner - Cold cuts - from a magnificent Sunday beef joint, brussel sprouts, with some melted butter drizzle. I also had a few small, skinny. crunchy chips. Not suitable for Jenga building. :)

It is incredibly rare I'd eat after dinner, but I may have to resort to berries, with some home made clotted cream later.

Memo to self, and a nudge to the rest of us: Let's be mindful of the thread title and have a goodly proportion of food-focused posts.

This squash is building up to a mystery we may need Herculè Poirot to solve.
Luckily, whatever it is, all squashes/pumpkins can be cooked the same way. Summer ripening squashes such as courgettes tend to have a softer thinner skin and don't keep very long, winter squashes have harder skins and can keep for months.
Any large ones I roast in chunks and freeze, or cook, mash into puree and freeze

b: ff greek with seeds, 6 blueberries and 3 walnuts
L: a bit of brie and a bit of stilton, some olives. A nut "Yes" bar
D a very small bit of steak fried with onions and peppers. (One large steak between 3 of us). The boys had theirs in wraps, fajita style. I had mine with a dollop of cream on top. 2 squares 70% divine with raspberry bits. Too nice, have given rest to hubby for safe keeping or the lot might go in one

I've noticed that the pharmacy has some "Yes" bars and was thinking of trying them. How do they affect your BG?

Made the corned beef quiche. The quiche was overpowered by the corned beef so I just dug the filling out of the crust. Crust is going into the bin.

There are different varieties so check the labels. One nut one is only 5g per bar, another is 8, and I've been ok on both of them, when eaten as part of a meal. Other flavours are much higher carbs

And finally....

Roasted a whole celeriac - just washed, not peeled or chopped - about an hour and a half in the moderate oven. Tomorrow I will cut it in slices and fry them in butter. I don't actually like celeriac very much, but need to have some veggies that don't really upset my insides.

I've realised I've been using you guys as replacement friends and chatting away too much. Remiss of me. Sorry. But have realised too that low carbing isn't helping me really, so I'm off. Shan't bother you again.

Daresay I shall miss you all, but I'll cope. I have Neil and Em.
