I like this very down to earth and knowledgeable man and find him to be very courageous at times. This is the NHS advice: "Do not take more than 100 micrograms (4,000 IU) of vitamin D a day as it could be harmful. This applies to adults, including pregnant and breastfeeding women and the elderly, and children aged 11 to 17 years." You can find much more about vitamin D on the NHS site: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/vitamins-and-minerals/vitamin-d/
Vitamin D is fat soluble, so can be stored in the body. This means that theoretically you could take quite a large dose and then none for a few days. I wouldn't go over the NHS recomended dose, though.
Dr John Campbell (my go-to source for info on Covid) recommends 50mcg = 2000IU vitamin D daily (ie half the NHS recommended maximum dose) as so many of us are deficient in the vitamin AND it appears from research that having an adequate level of vitamin D in the blood protects against worse outcomes in Covid as well as against colorectal cancer and other health problems. Personally I have upped my intake of D since watching his videos.
I like Healthspan's vitamin D 2000IU spray, as bypasses my dodgy digestion.

I'm so glad I don't live in America.I tried Vit D for depression symptoms, and got it up to 4,000IU/day before I noticed a lightening of affect. That went on for several years nicely, and then routine blood work showed my level to be high. Dr said, stop taking it. So I did. Next test it was down but I got charged $200 for it and was too tied up in my mother's death to appeal that decision. Very frustrating.
I have to thank @Max68 for mentioning Dr Campbell's videos. A warm and soothing presence, even though he pulls no punches as to the current disastrous Covid situation. I love that he always cites respectable sources (with clickable links in the shownotes) for everything he says. So unlike many self-styled "experts" on Youtube who specialise in unfouned assertions.I like this very down to earth and knowledgeable man and find him to be very courageous at times.

You might want to look at the ingredients list. It is very likely that to make the tablets palatable they contain either sugar (which may raise your bg) or a hefty amount of some artificial sweetener which may be what causes your digetive issues (and also in many cases raise bg) , or even both.they keep sending me 120 x D3 200u chewable tablets, but I can only take one of those a day as it upsets my digestive system.
How much vit D are you taking? Is 1000Iu safe to take?
I did this morning having read your post and mine contain both sugar and sweetener but I can't remember which and my wife has put the magnifying glass away where I can't find it and she's out!You might want to look at the ingredients list.
