Thank you @jjraak

We do have our own unique ways for dealing with obtuse inconsiderate (etc) people.

I had an experience nearly 30 years ago when I was sitting in a waiting room with my first hearing dog for the deaf, among many other people, in a council office. T (my hearing dog for the deaf) was wearing her bright yellow hearing dog jacket and bright yellow lead, all with written hearing dog information on. (She was allowed to be with me the same as a guide dog for the blind).

I was suddenly aware of people looking at me but had no idea why. Then I realised someone on the other side of the counter appeared to be shouting at someone (I couldn't hear someone shouting then, I had no hearing at all). And a person sitting next to me, touched my arm and motioned I should leave, and take the dog. I was completely bewildered.

Then the official on the other side of the counter came charging round at me, still apparently shouting and waving her arms angrily. She charged at me, grabbed my Hearing Dog's lead with one arm and yanked it out of my hand and grabbed my arm with her other other arm and attempted to haul me out of my seat.

I don't think I have ever exploded as much verbally in my life, as I did that day. I was not rude, nor did I use any naughty words. I began something like 'Don't you DARE take my guide dog's lead off me. And don't you DARE pull me out of my seat...'.

I didn't know how to shout (I don't think I have ever shouted in my life up to that point) because I cannot hear my own voice, so I drew on every vibration in my chest to give my voice as much power as I could.

I could see someone behind the counter looking like they were or had pressed a panic button under the counter. I knew I also needed my voice to be powerful so everyone in the large waiting room could hear, customers and staff alike. I think my next words were something like 'This is a Hearing Dog for the Deaf. Read the words on her jacket. I am completely deaf....' At no point was I rude or offensive, but I was very very clear and very very loud. And I said a whole lot more on how she had assaulted me etc etc.

I was half expecting security guards to rush in and throw me out. But at no time was I rude or offensive in my words or actions.

I could see the counter staff had relaxed in their body language out of the corner of my eye. Then suddenly the woman turned into a gibbering wreck, and other counter officials came over and helped/guided her away out of the back.

I think I began shaking and crying then, and so the counter staff saw to me next. So I skipped the queue... But I had lost my voice by then, my throat was so hoarse and I was unable to speak to conduct the business I had gone for. So it was pieces of paper and writing to sort me out, and I got dealt with very quickly.

I asked someone later if I should complain, and they laughed their head off saying no, I did not need to complain because nothing ever came of complaining. No one gets reprimanded or re trained @jjraak they told me. But me doing what I did that day, the nasty woman to me would never ever forget that day, and would do more good than me having a stiff upper lip and complaining.

So that was a lesson and a half. And since that day, I learnt that my voice can have a power to it. I just need to draw on the power of the vibrations in my chest (I was taught to speak using vibration since I couldn't hear in order to learn to speak).

Wow, I shall give this posting a hug, not that you don't deserve one, but for the poor, ignorant people that fall foul of you.
I admire how you have learnt how to live around your conditions and doff my hat to you. Well done.

Alf

When in the mire lift your eyes up to the hills.
Here's a distant view of Blencathra I took the other day.

Decided to follow my doctors request and have an heart scan at the Cumberland Infirmary later this pm.
It should be ok, I don't think there will be many bodies about.

Thank you very much @alf_Josiah
:)
I agree, it is really not a good idea to fall foul of me...
It is all we can do, live around our conditions.
However, I can be inventive in retribution....

Good morning all. The first scan of the Libre everite was 4.2 - yeh, whtevs. My contributions to scam calls: I often begin by asking the caller what colour their shirt is and have they ironed it then proceed to ask about their family and last night's tv. Once a caller wanted Julie and I told them she had been eaten by a crocodile. They continued to ask if they could talk to her. I also tell them I am the burglar, please don't tell the police. Now, to do the turkey trot or not? I've had my goose this year already and we have ordered beef but I do like a properly reared, hung (no comments please as hen birds are best) heritage breed bird. We tend to offer a choice of meats of late. I think that covers the topics of the day. @gennepher I gave a winner for your line drawing post but deliberated over a hug. Whilst not the same, something precious is lost forever once age/illness deprives one of a talent which was once so easy and natural. I miss the ease with which I could hit a cricket ball a long way without apparent effort. Take care all.

When I first bought this here house, I was bombarded by calls from something like Home Marketing network or some such and initially when I told them the previous occupant had moved they tried to engage me. So the next time someone called the conversation went a little like this:
Caller: Hello is that Mrs Previous-Owner?
Me: Hello, who is this calling?
Caller: I am calling from Home Marketing Whatever-it-Was, may I speak to Mrs Previous-Owner?
Me: Can I ask how you know Mrs. Previous-Owner?
Caller: [Pause] Is she there?
Me: Mrs Previous-Owner IS here, but I am afraid to tell you... she is deceased. Can I ask when was the last time you contacted her?
Caller: Ummm... wait... she's what?
Me: See, my name is Detective Constable Plod - and we might want to speak to you with regards to our investigation on what looks like an apparent homicide... and your number is the last one on her phone. So I ask again, please can I have your name, and when was the last time you or someone from your company called Mrs Previous-Owner? Or if you prefer we can arrange for someone to come and escort you to a station for a statement?
Caller: [/click]

Never heard from them again....

Okay.
Digital painting for today.
I am running out of time here, the delivery of a parcel is imminent and I need to get dressed...

In ZenBrush3
I finally found out how to turn the paper to landscape. It was buried in the different papers setting...
I did the colour version first.
The nearest I can get to splatter in ZenBrush3 is a dry brush stroke - this is the dark tree leaves.
I had intended to go into Procreate to do a splatter of yellow/orange from the sun.
And I did go into Procreate, but then I was messing changing the colour into shades of grey, bar the yellow sun.
So these are my two versions. First one painted in colour. Second one with a mono treatment.
Got to move to get clothes on...

Oh, which do you prefer? I prefer the second one.

That was a difficult choice as I liked both of them.

@gennepher well done for the way you handled a horrible situation. You are definitely a force to be reckoned with.

good afternoon all :)

4.4 this morning

it's blowing rather briskly outside today so I've been sorting out some of my recently unearthed winter weight stuff. I started small with good intentions then it sort of escalated until I had to keep going if I ever wanted to be able to get into bed :hilarious:

Cold callers are the pits! They're annoying when they immediately hang up after you've galloped across the house to grab the phone, equally annoying if they don't hang up and waste your time.
Mind you, we did get three instant hang up calls last week, I was annoyed enough to check the number online to see who it was, turned out it was automated bot. reminder calls from the Health Board for the flu jab appointments :)

Mum doesn't like the amount of waste for all the unsolicited advertising bumph she keeps getting. so she deals with it by sealing up the freepost reply envelopes and posting them back so it costs them for the postage;)

Hope your day is treating you kindly :)

@gennepher - I agree that doing intricate black and white is quite therapeutic, also that it's hard on the hands nowadays :sorry: I got a pack of 5 cheap kids pencils from Home Bargains, each one had a rubbery padded pencil grip on it so I have taken them off and can use them on my drawing pencils ;)
I like both versions of your art today, perhaps the more monocrome one has the edge, it's very atmospheric :)

@lindisfel - some lovely scenery today, I hope your scan visit goes smoothly :)

@dunelm - interesting spatter patterns, it's worked out very harmoniously :)

@ianpspurs - I could probably eat that cabbage casserole, as a side dish ;)

@Muddy Cyclist - hope your tidying up ends goes apace :)

art bit - thought I'd have a bash at the craggy rocks ;) this was based on a photo I saw on the net (from memory I think it was of somewhere in China)

Thank you, it ended up being the penultimate as it would not all fit in the VW camper. I think we should have ordered another skip. So Thursday will be the final sweep At MILS.

Your art is a step into Mr @dunelm s territory and a very strong and magnificent step. Such height and majesty of that rock and its clinging trees and the lower landscape and clouds so simple yet portrays all, a very fine watercolour.

On our way to MILs this morning I noticed the Beech have mostly lost their leaves but their trunks were lit by the low sun against the dark clouds. The Larch still glowed and so on our return home I unwound with a glass of red, Beethovens Sonatas for Cello and Piano on my music centre and quickly started a watercolour based on what I saw. Will finish Sunday.

A4 so far 20 minutes, you can see where the Beech Trees will be on the left. Larch have gone a bit muddy, should have changed my water :banghead: I will try and sort in the morning....

Thanks, I like atmospheric, more mysterious paintings the best :)

Wow!
I love your craggy rocks! Incredibly dramatic and imposing. I look forward to more of this!
