Great about the ketones @Goonergal I haven’t had a reading above 0.5 for ages.
I’m still managing to stay 99% carni and finding it simplifies life a lot but I’m going to have to add some spices soon I think.
I forgot to post about the sous vide brisket the other day: 48 hrs started at 66C but reduced to 60C after @bulkbiker ‘s experience made me worry it’d be dry. It was pretty good though, family all said they really enjoyed it too.
This evening we had a 1.3kg boned rolled rib of beef cooked sous vide for 5 hr at 55C then covered with Mayo and seared with a blowtorch and cut into 3 thick steaks. Photo hopefully attached. Please excuse the mushrooms I couldn’t resist ( @Bildad will understand!)View attachment 46751
Wow that looks great!
Glad the brisket turned out ok as well phew!

@DJC3 those meals look fab. Definitely add herbs/spices - can make a real difference. I had lemon pepper on the lamb ribs yesterday. Very tasty!

@DJC3 I am fully with you re the mushrooms.
Yesterday was OMAD Rare Ribeye, mushrooms and blue cheese.
(Sorry no photos here as my technical skills do not stretch to that.)
Today will be Liver and of course Mushrooms and may be bacon too.

Slow roasted lamb shoulder for today’s OMAD. Rubbed with a combination of lemon salt and lemon pepper. I may have gone back for seconds.

Wow looks very moist and tasty. Pity we don't have any way to smell the aroma.

OMAD today of Liver and Bacon at lunch time. Only coffee and water for the rest of the day. I am trying to cut down on cream as I think that is partly responsible for the lockdown weight gain.
Lost 4 lbs so far since starting carnivore eating at the start of January.

The term “new normal “
Got a new cast iron plate, I just heat it up, toss some ribeye on it. I need to slow down, I pretty much inhale it before it’s fully cooked.

I think I’m going to have to bow out of world carnivore month. I lasted longer than I expected tbh and a lot longer than I lasted with dry January!
Eating such nutrient dense meals is becoming difficult for me, I love meat but it’s becoming a chore so I want to stop before I go off it completely.
I’m hoping still to do the odd day/ weekend so will keep my beady eye on the happenings in this corner, thanks for your welcome.

Time for some food porn. Picked up half a kilo (well, a bit over) of boneless leg of lamb for £2.70 at Morrison’s. Rosemary and garlic salt on the nicely fatty top, 25 mins in the air frier. Delicious. And yes, I went back for seconds and thirds and ate the lot (OMAD).

Looks delicious!
They didn't have any at that price when I was in Morrisons on Thursday.

It was on the reduced counter last Sunday. Wish I’d bought a couple more as it was delicious.

I bought a half a lamb in November. It has been one of the best meats I have ever eaten. Even the ground lamb has been absolutely delicious.

Looks fantastic. How big was the joint? I’m not sure it’d fit in my airfryer

Small - boneless and 550g so about a couple of inches or so tall. Think they were ‘offcuts’ as Morrison’s had a bunch of them in the reduced section last weekend (got mine for £2.70 so it was a bargain!). Wish I’d bought one or two more.

Sat nicely on a shelf and would likely have fitted in the old, basket style airfryer I had. Not a big enough joint for a family though. The air fryer seems to keep the meat really juicy, as well as crisping up the top.

Right, I know the old adage (excuse) of "I will start tomorrow".. But since my first post here a couple of weeks ago, I wanted to use up food I had in freezer etc as frankly couldn't afford to waste it!

BUT, freezer was emptied finally last night, and ive been to supermarket and stocked up on meat, hooray! So from midnight its a carnie life for me...

So, do you guys just eat a plate of meat only? Anything with it? I am so used to having potato's with all my meals its going to be a struggle for a while.

Also what do you "snack" on if you need to? My old habits would be "I'll make a sandwich!", but struggling to think of nibbles or snacks that I like.

Time to get my Bloods in the "normal" range which they haven't been in many months scarily !

So I’m not sure if your having dairy but cheese is good. (Some carnivores avoid dairy.)
Peperoni sticks, pork scratchings, eggs any style, a whole roasted chicken from the market is a good thing to keep in the fridge for picking.
The need for snacking and /or three meals a day usually disappears with carnivore or very low carb.

Yep meat only mainly for me.. snacking (or my first meal) pork scratchings or cold meats (salami, ham etc) if you are ok with dairy then maybe make a cheese and ham sandwich out of sliced cheese and ham! No bread required.
