Lockdown made me feel more vulnerable

Diet drinks - the artificial sweeteners taste vile.
Having to forswear foods I have loved all my life.
Trying to find low carb meals when eating out.
Just putting this out there because I hadn't really anticipated it.

I have noticed over the last year or so I am more sensitive to set backs of all sorts.

I wondered about this, then came to the conclusion that we have spend the last year and more having to treat the rest of the population as potential killers.
If anyone gets too close they might unwittingly infect you and you might then become seriously ill and even die.
So people are a threat.
This extends to the world in general being a threat, and by association many things feel as if the world is threatening you.

It isn't a major problem, and I expect it to ease eventually as the pandemic recedes, but it does mean that there is more to returning to normality than just having restrictions lifted on travel and socialising.

I do not, thankfully, feel in need of any help, as I think that I am coping well.
Just mentioning this because I hadn't anticipated it, and if others are feeling similar things then it might help to explain why.

I agree. The underlying anxiety we have been living with for a long time will take some time to abate.

Yes, I am definitely more nervous than I was pre Covid. Some is down to Covid itself, the rest is down to not knowing 'which side' any individual is on. Will they appreciate me still wearing a mask or look on me with scorn? I don't particularly care about the scorners but even so I am on edge when dealing with others. Some of this is down to nasty comments during the first lockdown. I have always been scared of people, now it's much worse as I realise half of them just don't care about others more vulnerable than themselves.

I also am even more aware that life can change from good to bad in an instant. It always could, but I am more aware of it now.

I remember reading this article earlier in the year from a journalist who had moved from lockdown London to open New Zealand.
I think many of us will share her (and your) anxieties.

Yes, this is so true. Apparently it is similar to those who survived the blitz or internment felt. Except that it isnt over yet, and the hostile reception by some to those of us who still mask and social distance is something I didnt have to encounter and dealt with before. The sneer in the voice, the ridicule, the threatening shouts of derision. The fear that someone will snatch my mask off, or people who come close and ignore if I ask them not too as |I am vulnerable. The open and acceptable disregard for the value of the life of those sick, disable, old, fragile, who are decried as people who dont deserve to live, whose value and health and life is less than their desire for 'freedom'

phew, I think my soapbox got the better of me there.

I went into town yesterday to get a new phone.. first time I've been there in over a year

found myself avoiding pretty much everyone

still using a mask all times except outside

just as much worrying about what others think as what I do..

odd times

The climate of fear instilled by the behavioural psychologists will take a long time to be overcome assuming it ever is.

The irrational fear of other humans as walking disease vectors is unfortunately what many seem to have been infected with.

I'm not very optimistic for the future. Our lives have been irreparably damaged by the psy-ops globally.
