Hi @boma7452

We cannot diagnose you over the internet. The only thing I'd say here is that sudden (uncontrolled) weight loss is more consistent with a diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes than it is Type 2. Were you tested for the presence of ketones?

Even if Type 1, weight loss should stop if you get control of your glucose levels. But of course, there could be other reasons so best to get yourself checked out.

As you are already on insulin your weight loss may be due to something else other than diabetes. You may need to ask your GP what the other diagnostic referral options are to get a correct diagnosis.

Hi, I have a blood test tomorrow morning and also a stool test to be sent off, I have also been referred by my doctor to have a CT scan and also to see an endocrinologist.

I don’t think it is related with diabetes, since you already started on insulin.

Weight loss are normal before a type 1 diagnosis. It’s more common to gain weight as a type 1 diabetic when you start on insulin, I think I’ve gained roughly 6 stones since I first started on insulin.

You should take this with you GP. Not sure how your blood sugar is, but if it’s really high, you should try a different type of insulin. But, not unlikely, your weight can have other causes, and not related to your diabetes :)
