Possible food poisoning cause high blood sugar?

Hi, I had chicken pakora (shop bought) last night - first time since diagnosis (as had actually had food poisoning with it just before my diagnosis!) and everything seemed fine until six hours later, during the night my bloods shot up to 17 and it’s taken 11 hours and five units to get back in a good range. I did have bad tummy cramps last night during the night, does this sound like food poisoning as I still feel queasy and have no appetite? Guessing chicken pakora doesn’t agree with me at all!!
Does food poisoning cause high bloods and insulin resistance? Thanks

As a T2, I would expect something like that to nuke my BG levels. I wouldn’t expect a one off event to cause insulin resistance though.

Food poisoning could cause highs or lows.
Do you have sick day rules to follow when your levels are high?
If not, I recommend discussing it with you diabetes team/nurse.

Thanks, yes have been checking blood sugar quite a bit and taking it easy today

If you had food poisoning, the main symptoms are nausea, diarrhoea and vomiting alongside the cramps.
