Welcome to Holy Cross Day. Eyes on the prize for some, mumbo jumbo for others. No offence intended or taken. Swipey still in the box so fbg a known unknown. Some wet stuff from the sky today:banghead:, Unknown poultry defrosting - need freezer space. probably turkey or goose. Do I mess my regime about and also defrost some kind of sauce then try the penny stuff from H and B? I'm ill prepared for important decisions. Maybe just bluster/bloviate. Oh wait, that skill set has been found woefully wanting. Laters dudes.

You are joking? We did have a day off yesterday, went to a Vide Grenier.( car boot equivalent) visited a couple of friends and bought a hot tub.
However the piling up of jobs is causing me to go into stress panic mode. Only way out is to rewrite the list and prioritise. Hope to achieve a variety of household, gardening and kitchen tasks. I have managed to almost catch up with the laundry. Should get that finished today as well.
Harvest beans, already got in the peas.
Check potatoes - see if good to eat after blight on leaves
molehill removal, already picked up apples.
Make coleslaw
Make granola
Mowing,
repot peach tree, recent purchase < 1metre tall
Freeze beans.
BUT
MrSlim made me a coffee, and sitting in the shade surrounded by butterflies is so very pleasant...
We shall see how far I get.

Does anyone know, or have idea why Errant has started licking and eating soil? Mostly from the molehills. We have clay soil.
After reading all that, I simply must lie down. All the best with it all

Gas fitter came to install our brand new oven this morning once it was installed we found that the top oven and the grill do not function properly they light but will not stay on.
The old oven I replaced because the top oven and grill did not work so now I kave two ovens the old and the new both with the same fault what a day.

The company after a lot of palaver and several phone calls with what now seems the customary long wait to talk to an advisor have said they will get an engineer out to fix it but are not sure of how long that may take what a day.

I may be using the microwave to cook for while unfortunately.
Not fit for purpose - then need to replace it

Good morning everyone from an overcast start here in the dark and dangerous north
The wonder wheel of German Bights with senf came in at 5.8 this am

Questions that solicitors ask when conveyancing. “When was the curb dropped and who did it?” Another crystal ball question and sent straight back with a “unknown by vendor.” Asthma review - this is now in the form of a questionnaire sent out in the post, completed, returned to GP surgery and then a phone call. I am expecting mine at 11 today. Lots of questions involving booze. I know what they are going to say but I have already given up fags (about 25 years ago), a whole host of tasty treats and also beer. With asthma, diabetes and a kranky back I refuse to listen to the litany - “you may die…” - well that is inevitable and at my age the inevitability is a lot closer with each day a cherished jewel that really must involve at least red wine and on jewel polishing days, a wee scotch or twa. The girl in the bubble will be here soon so best finish my koffy and have a shower.

A twist in a tree, have a wonderful day if you can. Keep a little of it just for yourself.

Ah, so we now self review ourselves @dunelm
Mine was done online, and many inappropriate booze questions, and very inappropriate gambling questions which it wouldn't release me from and was on a loop...

Great twist in a tree...
Brilliant :)

5.0 this morning. Got back from dog walk just before the rain started so am now sitting with a coffee in the conservatory listening to the rain beating on the roof.

I have an Amazon kindle and am a bit concerned that Amazon can now read my mind.

I have been mulling over a conundrum. I have a long term issue with salt. I was prescribed salt tablets when I was 16 to prevent horrendous cramps and salt still does almost instantly stop the cramps. My problem is that the only salted food I like is mackerel so my salt intake remains low.

The conundrum is that low salt is healthy for your heart, but when I have a low salt day my resting heart rate is dramatically higher and so are after meal blood sugars. I was mulling this over and thinking that when I have time I would research this. Then I opened my Kindle fire and the book they suggested was The Salt Fix. How spooky is that.

Of course I had to order it immediately and was horrified to read in the first few pages that low salt causes an increase in resting heart rate and insulin resistance. Now that is scary, especially as I thought I was being so healthy with the low salt intake.

Actually, I have always remembered (and ignored because I don't like salt) that the doctor told me when he prescribed salt tablets that I must always remember that my heart was a muscle and that muscles need salt. I hopefully will manage to read a bit more of the book.

@dunelm Interesting way to conduct an asthma review - inappropriate answer in bagging area? Enjoy your day with TGIB. Nice gnarly tree - is nice an insult to arty types, if so, sorry old chap. @Krystyna23040 quite spooky that but useful re salt and resting hr. Not quite sure why I earned 3 hugs but thankee kindly squire and ma'am(s). (Tugs forelock.) The poultry turns out to be two bags of goose. 1 will be added to a salad today and t'other, 2 x the size, used for a curry for 2 on the morrow. MIL may now be discharged tomorrow - just when her bathroom is being ripped out and walk in shower fitted. They moved her out of the high care ward at midnight Monday. A and E were overwhelmed. Mrs P is rather underwhelmed by release timing but obviously delighted MIL is recovering.

Good Afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen, if you don't feel you fit into either of those categories please seek guidance from a source of illumination, the internetty abounds with bright sparks.

This morning a 4.9 popped out of that meter of mine, luckily I was being driven.

Salt, hmmmmm lots of theory and chat, but for me and me alone bitter experience has proven that the drug prednisone causes cramp, a higher salt intake helps offset the cramp attacks, now I have been told by more than medic to cut down on my salt intake and also by another medic to rub salt into my gums to cut down the gum swelling caused by another of my drugs confused yep I am. Cramp attacks at 3:00 am in the early morning are not pleasant....pass the salt and ignore the "experts".

Busy old morning here in Tilehurst Towers, first a telephonic consultation with the local liver specialist, whom I trust, lft's, liver function tests results are good, but he would like to do an oral endoscopy on me to check on my stomach lining, all par for the course for liver transplant patients and yet more blood tests.
Organ donation works.
Then a trip into covid central ( Reading ) to pick a couple of pairs of reading glasses, no pun intended.
Now the day is almost mine.
Stay safe.

Hug for the low fbg and cramps. Winner for the well balanced attitude. Being called well balanced will be a shock to Mrs A J and destroy that "street cred" you have worked so hard to establish (at least on here)

We had some useful rain in NW Cumbria last night, so much so some of the plants started to lift their heads up this am.

Some birders have started to see Pink-footed Geese flying over in small flocks going south to Lancs from Iceland and to think some may finish up on the Wash in Norfolk near where some of you live.

They used to reckon a guy who worked at Skelton transmitter was well balanced...he had a chip on both shoulders!

Hi Alf,
Its more likely to be low potassium rather than low salt causing cramps. The body has mechanisms to retain sodium.
That is one of functions of the feedback ACE system and the adrenal glands production of aldosterone.

That is such good news that MIL is recovering. A shame though that her release timing coincides with her bathroom being ripped out.

I agree, cramp attacks at 3pm are definitely not pleasant.

I was very pleased that one expert (Dr Malhotra) believes that low salt is not good for you. He says - 'This superb book busts many misconceptions around salt consumption. It's a must read. -- Dr Aseem Malhotra, Consultant Cardiologist and adviser to the UK's National Obesity Forum'.

He is definitely one expert that talks a lot of sense.

5.2 this morning. Resting heart rate is brilliant and I am managing to cope with the higher salt intake by adding it to my Psyllium husk drink and disguising it with Apple cider vinegar which makes it taste less salty. Hopefully, eventually, I can persuade my taste buds that salt is OK.

Good morning everyone from a damp yet promising start here in the dark and dangerous north
The wonder wheel of meatballs in praise of Pastafarianism slid under the wire at 5.8 this am

It’s International Bin Day again and already General Waste Bin is out patrolling the end of the drive and muttering about damp squibs. Mrs Miggins has the bit between her teeth and has borrowed her brothers van for the week. Things are beginning to move, probably up to the shipping container that we have the use of where our daughter works. Hope it’s all stuff that we don’t usually need on a daily basis - like the bathroom, but you never know. I shall busy myself by staying out of the way and reciting snippets from past PG Tips adverts, Mr Shifter.

Bit of a tree this morning. The rest of it resides in our park. Have a wonderful Wednesday, it’s Irish Kofee day.

It aĺl depends how your feedback systems work. If you have low aldosterone you will have low sodium and will lose sodium in the your pee.

If you lose potassium due to adrenal disease causing high sodium people die due to hypertension and high salt in tissue due low potassium damaging the heart, lungs and circulatory system.
Health context is everything.
Aseem Malhotra is talking in context.

This is one of the ways a lot blood pressure drugs work to reduce sodium and aldosterone.

Anyone having problems with high blood pressure should not increase their salt intake without GP advice.
They may have Conn's syndrome as I have due to a 30mm adrenal tumour.

I discovered this after thirty years of incorrect treaments and it was too late to take the tumour out which is a potential cure of high blood pressure.
