Diet drinks - the artificial sweeteners taste vile.
Having to forswear foods I have loved all my life.
Trying to find low carb meals when eating out.
Having a rest after a long cycle ride stretched out on the bed.
Dozing nicely, when the Low Glucose alarm went off.
I was on my back so not leaning on the sensor.

O.K. toddle downstairs and check BG just in case.
Usual lancet setting, no blood produced.
I tried twice.
Ah! Dehydrated.
I don't feel thirsty or anything, however.

I'm now over half way down a pint of fizzy water (with a little white wine) and wondering when re-hydration will kick in.
I've also had a slice of toast and marmalade (yum) just in case.

I'll give finger pricking another go in a bit

The sensor is still reading stubbornly low.
Last reading was 3.5.
No rise so far from the toast and marmalade.

My initial conclusions are that mild dehydration is causing problems for the Libre 2.
I wonder if this will also cause problems if I get some blood out of a stone to test.
I don't think I am really hypo (but how would I know as a diet and exercise T2?)

Edit: tried another finger prick and still nothing so dialled the lancet setting up a notch.
Got blood, result 4.1.
So I am running low.
Libre is now reading 3.7 which is not far off the finger prick.
Interesting.
Did I just prove that a T2 on Metformin, diet and exercise can go hypo (if only a little bit)?

Hi,

I normally am happy if my Libre is within 0.6mmol of the meter.
What I have found with lows regarding the libre, there can be a lag on the rise? Even longer than the meter. (By 30 minutes?)

No longer being prescribed metformin.
I seem to think from my reading on the topic that the normal range for healthy people goes down to 3.5 at the extreme, and below 4 is not abnormal. The alarm level for type 1's is driven by the need to have time to do something about a hypo rather than being hazardous at that actual level perhaps - not much point in giving you alarm when you are already too sick to act on it?

The thing that surprised me was how long it took food to act.
I thought toast and marmalade would cover both slow and fast acting carbohydrates, but my BG stayed around the mid 3s for around 2 hours before going through the roof.
I don't have the usual sugary things around to treat a hypo because I've never needed them.
Anyway there were no symptoms in the low 3s so my body didn't seem to think that was a hypo.
