Actually ended up having spicy lamb - my hand landed on that first, not the beef ragout. So I made some tzadziki to go with it - just as well - it was very spicy. Must have developed its strength while in the freezer. Very tasty though.

Neil apparently has a frozen shoulder and has to have steroid injections and use ibuprofen gel. It really is troublesome to him - he seems quite unable to use his left arm. I'm afraid I'm going to have to rely on Em and her dad to help both Neil and myself. I can drive to get Neil to the physio department but I can't get myself into the hospital for my jags on Friday. Em could probably push my wheelchair but it will take both Neil and Em to get the chair out of the car. Shopping is another issue - maybe No 2 son will be able to get some of it; the more specific things will have to be bought by Neil - maybe with Em's help. Luckily she is always very willing to do what she can. Her brother would be more capable but he has gone to the mainland to visit his elder brother.

Then a coffee morning with friends so had 3 bites of the fatbomb thingy I had created before I left home, which meant I was able to resist the biscuits being handed around
L: pate, 4 seedy crackers, cucumber. 2 lc millionaires squares from the freezer
Mild migraine mid afternoon , so had a sleep.
Not feeling too good so cooked boys dinner and just had 1 chip and a nut bar

Feeling a lot better this morning.

Spent a lot of time in the kitchen with cool ideas for new dishes!
Made oven baked beetroots with onion, garlic, a splash of balsamic vinegar and some thyme. It was the first time ever I used fresh beetroot, so far I've always bought pre-cooked beets, no idea why.
Made an experimental spinach dish to go with it: chopped onion, some mushrooms, garlic, spinach and cream cheese.
Had a boiled egg on top because my mum always insisted you should have an egg with spinach, and also fried halloumi to go with both the spinach and the beetroot.

It looked wonderfully festive and yummy, and it tasted utterly boring, what a waste of time!
So I'll have to think of a way to use the leftovers in a better dish, as my meal was planned to be used for two days, but I'm not going to eat this again tomorrow.
I did make a picture before I knew how disappointing my meal was going to be, but I won't share it with you.

Instead you'll get a picture of the wonderful gift for myself I ordered a week ago, and which finally arrived yesterday evening.
The present is hot coffee all winter!

I keep the temperature in my home rather low, because there's always a door open for the dogs and cats, and to keep fresh air coming in because I'm a smoker. Waste of money to heat the place if all the heat blows out the door right away, so I make do with a little heat and a blanket on the couch.
The downside is that your coffee gets cold before you can finish it. :(
I usually buy my mugs for 50 cents at the thrift store, so spending 25 euros on two isolated mugs just for myself is a very large present. Very happy with it too!

@Antje77 hot coffee is an absolute necessity, and you’re worth it!
Glad you are feeling better this morning @Riva_Roxaban . Also glad your brother’s biopsy was clear @Annb that must be a weight off.
Today I had breakfast of 2 soft boiled eggs with asparagus soldiers.
Mid morning my delivery of DGF cakes arrived with 2 free boxes of brownies! Obviously I had to quality control so ate one with my morning coffee.
Lunch was coconut tortillas filled with chicken tandoori chunks, rocket and h/m Mayo. A handful of walnuts and Montezumas absolute black buttons.
Dinner - pork stroganoff with broccoli and green beans.

Breakfast: bacon and egg, as per usual. Em, here for a sleep-over, just had bacon with some ketchup. She's becoming quite a tea drinker - first cup in bed, then a mug full with breakfast as well as several others during the day. Must try to break her of the habit of making her own with 2nd hand tea bags.

Lunch: Em had a cheese sandwich, with wholemeal bread which she then heated in the microwave. I didn't have lunch. Ended up feeling pretty nauseous about 4.30 but managed to keep some cold water down.

Evening meal: just had some tomato soup out of the freezer, with double cream added. Not a lot, but it's enough to keep me going. Any more would probably have been a mistake!

Received my appointment for the breast clinic in Inverness, for 27th October. Arranging transport this afternoon for myself, wheelchair and escort. Not sure who will be going with me, so couldn't finalise the arrangements. I think it will be DIL but have to give a name for the ticket so have to make sure by tomorrow. They also want to know the make of the wheelchair and its weight. Have to try to figure that out tomorrow as well. Also have to go and get vaccinated tomorrow.

Nailed it, cheese and neighbours to the rescue!
I was going to grumpily eat a couple of slices of low carb bread instead of messing with yesterdays leftovers as I was still angry at those leftovers for not being a tasty meal.
Turned out I'd forgotten to buy bread, so more grumpiness (grumpyness?) but still needed to eat.

Borrowed two eggs from my neighbour (the one now living in a trailer in my garden), grated cheese for a cheesy crust, cubed cheese to add to the filling of my omelet, added some sundried tomatoes and smoked paprika too, et voilá, mood lifted!

Cheese works wonders for both boring food and grumpy moods, and there's enough for tomorrow too! :)

Low carb toast and a couple of boiled eggs that were still hot when my partner brought them in for breakfast.
Hospital cold silverside salad, which are reasonable sized, and yellow jelly and fruit for lunch.
Hospital beef stranglehorse, I scoop each of mashed spuds, pumpkin, gravy.

Had a couple of low carb protein bars, a tub of chobani greek yoghurt that kept in the fridge for me for smokos.

Had a bit of a fight with my painkillers because they are opioids with the new crew that came on, I said one of them oxycodone is take as needed, and when I need them I want them now, not when you get around to it. That got sorted out by the nurse navigator when I told her by text.

Good news is I go home today, get back to my comfortable king single bed.

Thanks for for the good wishes everybody.

Neil apparently has a frozen shoulder and has to have steroid injections and use ibuprofen gel. It really is troublesome to him - he seems quite unable to use his left arm. Shopping is another issue - maybe No 2 son will be able to get some of it; the more specific things will have to be bought by Neil - maybe with Em's help. Luckily she is always very willing to do what she can. Her brother would be more capable but he has gone to the mainland to visit his elder brother.
Have great sympathy for Neil with his frozen shoulder, can be very painful and disabling. Has he got exercises to help? I would like to wish him a speedy recovery and maybe if it is caught early that will be possible.

Another bad night not feeling well.
11am ff greek with raspberries and seeds
3pm a piece of the lc courgette bread from the freezer
7:30 pm a bowl of Campbell chicken soup. OK, it's not real food, it's processed but it has been family's go to comfort food for illness since it was first invented. Some habits are hard to change. Less than 20g carbs I think.
9pm suddenly nose and eyes start streaming, maybe that explains why I've been feeling so poorly

Breakfast: avocado on wholemeal toast

Lunch: didn't intend to have any, but feeling so cold today so I have just burned my mouth and throat on too hot tomato soup. Must be patient now and wait for it to cool a bit.

Dinner: will be a chicken leg, roasted in the oven with some oil and lime dressing. If I can be bothered I'll have some Brussels sprouts with it. It depends on how I feel after getting my 2 jabs this afternoon.

Em's begging to come back for another sleep-over next week - actually she wanted it tonight but I said we'd have to make it next Tuesday/Wednesday. It's beginning to look as though she wants it to be a weekly thing. I don't know why she enjoys coming here so much - I would have thought I was quite a boring individual for a young girl.

Ouch! The soup is still not cool enough.
