Diet drinks - the artificial sweeteners taste vile.
Having to forswear foods I have loved all my life.
Trying to find low carb meals when eating out.
I've just started taking alogliptin along with the metformin.
I'm still trying to work out if it has improved things, or perhaps just changed them.
On just Metformin I had a regular Dawn Phenomenon (DP) which stopped around 12:00 and then dropped back down for the rest of the day. Started climbing again after midnight.
My BG seems all over the place at the moment (not helped by the Libre 2 reading high) and I can't work out if it is due to a few Xmas treats or the extra drug.
One weird thing is that I seem to have a permanently sweet taste in my mouth (as if I had eaten a piece of cake or something). I don't remember this from before.
I haven't yet been on a cycle ride to see if I get the glucose spike from heavy exercise, but I was hoping alogliptin might reduce this.
We have been away and have missed our regular daily walks (although we did walk around town one day) so again I don't know if things have changed.
Can anyone remember what changed for them when they started alogliptin (or any other gliptin)?
Oh, and I've been feeling a bit queasy after eating but haven't pinned this down yet.
