Hi I'm new here, I've just been referred to the nhs digital weight loss programme. You have a choice of 3 programmes, all seem similar, it's an online course, where you get a nutritionist to set you up an individual plan and there's access to group chats and podcasts.
I'm not sure if I'm going to apply though as last week I went to the DESMOND meeting and waisted 2 hrs of my life I'll never get back!

Thank you, @Chelle1424 , that helps. Welcome to forums, too. Good to see you posting.

I am still waiting for further info, following the original text two days ago. Curious as to what the offers will be, and still tempted to accept, just to see what it is all about.

Just a quick update…I would still consider the ‘take one for the team’ option, as I am curious. Also keep openminded about these things. However, despite the info on website (copied below) there has been no further contact from either GP or service providers:-

“Step 1: After you have been referred to the programme by your general practice, you will be contacted via text message or email within 2 working days. This message, from ‘NHS WMP’, will contain
a link to a website from which you can access the list of available programmes. If you are unable to receive text messages or access the internet, you will instead receive a phone call directly to your landline or mobile. You will also receive a phone call directly to your landline or mobile if you need alternative language options
.”

I'm on one of the three options after getting referred. GPs gets a little funding if people take up the referral, so I didn't mind. ( source https://bswccg.nhs.uk/for-clinician...ents/2035-regional-resource-pack-july-21/file )
I went for Xyla. Got a phone call from a nice chap (after receiving a text giving me options of when to receive the call). He said there would be several other calls to check in, I asked for texts instead, he said that's not an option unfortunately. So I said no calls then pls, which he accepted as long as I log my weight. We also agreed a target, which was one I was working towards anyway. It's just an app with checklists and articles on how portion control etc is important. You can log your steps. BG etc on it if you want, but you don't have to.
For me, it's no more useful than this forum, the Learning Zone and my fitbit, so apart from logging my weight in it to keep them happy, I'm not really using it. But the GP gets a bit of cash, which is a kind deed. :)

Hi, new to the forum. Diagnosed T2 in January, nurse (non specialist) pushed me onto this programme. Got a call from a woman who asked me to rate how happy I am with various aspects of my life then proceeded to tel me she was going to take and hour a week for the next 10 weeks to teach me how to eat properly and do more exercise.

I dared to question how she worked as I needed to understand whether it would work for me before I committed to giving this much time within a busy work schedule.

When she told me I’d got it wrong and it was her giving me her time, I’m afraid I lost it a bit and explained that she was getting paid and I’d be losing paid work hours (freelance - an hour not worked is an hour not paid).

I have experience of great coaches. This wasn’t one. I’m afraid I’m not up for being patronised and talked down to.

Am doing ok on my own since, lost 1.5 stone and got hba1c from 66 down to 50 so far. Discovered this forum a couple of days ago and now confident I can keep improving - without this scheme!

I lost 22lbs with orlistat and am currently on a new regime. I read a lot and am known for teaching medical professionals things they don't know
(I read medical research on PKU, Diabetes and occasionally other conditions that I have. over 20 not all severe though).
I have lost 5.5Kg in 3 weeks on low carbs 130g gross carbs max. I also started exercising as I hadn't for years (disabled) for 75.6 mins a week, only weights but do 40 raises at a time takes 1.8mins approx x 7 daily x 7days. Its the most I can manage!
Also have to have low protein diet which makes low carb difficult.
HbA1c 51,57,66 now 61 after starting new regime but only a few days before. After the 66 got a second metformin only 28d ago BT was 8 days ago.

now lost 9.9 kgs
had problem with weight after taking antibiotics
finished them yesterday AM and had pale stool today
unsure if gall bladder or caused by antibiotic. Could be either been on low carb (130g) diet all month and lost weight before starting.
Not sure what to do about so will monitor for a few days.
Now do 60 raises just over 2mins 7x day 7 days a week so comes to e.a. 100mins a week. (e.a. - el approximatum).

How do you alter profile as some info on it is wrong?
