Dislikes
being ill/not being in control
speaking as a lawyer with an interest in things of a benefits nature you need to show that either you have difficulty in getting around or that you need someone to help you either in the morning at night or you are not capable of cooking a meal for yourself

so it does not follow that all T1 will qualify for DLA but you may get it if you have complications esp with the feet etc

hope this helps

Margaret, that's not entirely true.

Entitlement to DLA is assessed on a case by case basis. So someone with T1 MAY be entitled to that sort of benefit if - as Jacqui points out - the person for some reason has difficulties with mobility, dressing, continence etc.

Although a well-controlled T1 would not be eligible for DLA, someone who has developed complications and as a result needs care may be eligible.
