hi guys

not sure if this is a chain of bars across the country but just had lunch in Revolution (vodka bar) in Nottingham and they had a whole menu referring to low carb options (yippee!)

i ordered a burger with no bread and no chips (specifically asked for low carb), anyhow it came with chips..... :!:

the guy was going to bring me a plate to scrape them on to but when i said i was diabetic and did not want chips at all he fetched me a new one with lots of lovely grilled veg and the burger with toppings minus the carbs :D

the best bit was that they did not charge me for the meal as i had to send it back

will definitely seek them out again the food was fab and tasty, first time i have not had to explain myself, shame they forgot that chips are the food of the devil....

Thats good to hear that restaurants are catering for us 'faddy' eaters!

I have been concerned about what to eat when I go out as most places can replace the chips / potatoes with salad - then just end up with a few lettuce leaves, cucumber and tomato - not a salad in my eyes!

Would be good to hear of other meals out that are low carb from others!

thanks for the link to REvolution

believe me i am not trendy, i wouldn't set foot in there at night but lunchtime for food is different

what you can't see on the web menu is the blurb about offering low carb and some of the menu items they mark as being low carb such as the chicken milanese which they did not have yesterday

maybe we can start a revolution of our own by being old farts going to these places (though i don't consider myself to be that old yet, but i am a grumpy old woman in training  )

am going to try the one in lincoln today and see if they live up to expectations, if so i might have to buy shares (unless they are giving them away this week.... )

soaps on telly and people talking about the characters as if they were real.
I got away with it last night. went to a North African restaurant with my exercise class folks. There wasn't a low carb option as such, but I had a delicious chicken salad. The dressing was olive oil flavoured with herbs and spices and delicious. I had profiteroles( my latest passion) for dessert. They came smothered in what should be chocolate sauce, but was more like butter-cream. I scraped off what I could and left it. I did need to resort to taking a whole Starlix, but 5.2 this morning!

I avoid chain type restaurants. Round these parts we have a lot of pubs who do excellent food and even better one who specialises in fish (also a fish restaurant) they usually have a lot of different choices and are adaptable like swapping out chips for salad if asked.

When vegetarian cousins come to visit and we go out we can usually find a choice of places where we can get vegetarian for them, low carb for me and a tiny portion or a starter for the main meal for mother (who is tiny) with no problems, but then we're old fashioned round these parts and eat proper food cooked from scratch not packets.
