People who think they are always right and ram their opinions down your throat. No-one knows everything. Those who shout loudest are usually the ones who actually know the least.
I wasn't going to weigh myself now I've hit my 5-stone weight loss, but of course I did and I've lost 1 lb taking me to 8 stone 9 lbs.

2 lbs gone in the last week which is a nice surprise. I'm now down to 8 st 6 lbs. I'm going for a BMI of 22 which is 8 stone, so my target is now in sight :)

Yeah, this topic had been quiet for a while! I have still had a lot of problems in my life and not been very good (drinking to forget and comfort eating) but in the last 3 weeks I only put on 2lb-I know this is about weight loss so I lost 1.5lb in a 1hr 45min gym session yesterday. I am hoping to get back to my normal routines now, I had hoped before but this time I am more confident I can do so, I have just over a stone to lose and fully intend doing so before the end of summer (whenever that's going to start!)

Guess some problems take longer to get over than others as I'm still in my normal routines but managed to lose 2/3rds of a pound! amy loss is a loss especially when drinking to forget and comfort eating too. I am now targeting 12th September to lose the extra stone left.

I've lost another pound, bringing me down to 8 st 5 lbs and a BMI of 22.98. I'm not sure what I'm going to do when I eventually get down to a BMI of 22. I don't want to go any lower, but the control freak in me doesn't want to change my routines :problem:

Bought some new scales at the weekend because I couldn't read the old ones properly (it's because I'm so tall  ).
Today's reading is 63.9 kg which makes my BMI 22.7. Makes me super aerodynamic in the pool now :D

I was diagnosed a few weeks ago and told it would be good to loose a couple of stone. I have tried to begin to watch what I eat mainly to keep my glucose levels down and have had a lot of ideas from friends on this site
Pleased to say I have gone from 12st1 to 11st 7 so feel that it may be doable!!

My it continue to drift away!!!! :)

Have lost another 2lb this week taking total loss to 15lb. Have a long way to go yet but have lost every week since joining weight watchers. Am testing foods along the way to see what suits and what doesn't.

Wheeee-heyy all, well done.

My current total loss is 8st 4lb

Lost 11lbs in 5 weeks time this time.

Still waay too heavy at 15st 8lbs though, lol.

But I suppose I just about lost 35 percent of my original body weight, so hey ho.

Darned meds that got me there in the first place, but onwards!

Ohhhhh what a great thread- only just stumbled across it.

I weighed 376lbs back in the early 1980's in my late teens after a massive weight increase in a short space of time - was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome soon after and was told I would unlikely lose the weight until I hit the menopause. I spent many unsuccesful years battling with my weight - up and down like a yo yo, but in 1998 armed with new dietary information from my specialist started a new regine of low carb dieting (on and off it has to be said) and by 2008 had managed to get down to about 315lbs ish (memory is hazy lol) and then had a static time and then in the last year or so have got going again and am now weighing in at 265lbs. I have a long way to go but am losing on average 1 to 2lbs a week. So I should hit target by the time I reach the menopause!!

Ah well, onwards and upwards. I am now following a slightly lower carb diet than I was and its really suiting my weight loss as well as my sugar levels so finally at the grand old age of 49 I have finally worked out whats best for me, never too late eh.

Good luck all - just weighed today after returning from holiday last week and having gained a few pounds have now lost 3lbs thios week  so a good start back on the trail...

That is a fantastic weight loss! Congratulations

You're never too old to get yourself sorted Clairy. I'm 54, so you are a mere spring chicken :D

Iankaye, I can't suggest anything for you. Maybe if you started a thread about your problem it would be seen by more members, rather than a post here.

Sometimes you can have a treat. Next time, if you can, have only 4-5 chips and don't be concerned about the rest. It's the over-fried (read refined carbohydrates) potatoes that are likely to give you a spike - lettuce, veg, a bit of fat and the protein from the meat stuff is unlikely to send it through the roof.

Chips can be quite high in the not-so-pleasant transfat which is a good reason to avoid them - the oil they're made with is not good for you - the rest sounds fine.

If and when you limit the amount of carbohydrates you eat, you might need to eat a bit more fat than you would otherwise - body has to have some fuel, and it can actually learn to burn fat - once you don't over-stock on the carbohydrates all the time.

Good luck and happy testing. And GRATZ on the 3 weeks - that's pretty good going for a start. Don't think I was that good in the beginning - or ever really, lol.

thanks!!
My daughter is a vegan so keeps me on the straight and narrow re fats and things and I am pleased that I am not really too phased by the low carbs
Potatoes are my main problem as I do LOVE them so tend to avoid having any as I find 4-5 chips always have noughts on the end!!! [40-50!!??] well not quite. It is easier on that one to eliminate rather than cut down.

so much support from this site makes everything so much easier
