Hi
just been told that I have gastroparesis, had the scan done in July and no resposne or follow up appointment; things were getting worse so phoned the hospital and lo and behold they had forgotten me. Never mind, just another three mnonths feeling ill and blood sugars uncontrollable.
in the past three months alos been diagnosed as severely deficient in Vit D and B6 so taking the pills for that.
I am a type 1 using and insulin pump, insulin resistant so taking metformin X 2 daily, hypothyroid with other auto immune diseases including scleroderma and Sjogrens - I really am quite fit given all this doesn't stop me doing anything even if I am the grand old age of 62 !! They are now going to retest for celiac. So what I'm looking for are any tips with diet and gastorparesis, best treatment (seeing the consultant on 02.11.12) recipes and generally any help anyone can give. Many thanks
Kate

Hi
thanks for taking the time to respond. I have that article quite informative. I often think people living with the problem know a lot more thna some of the specialists in a way similar to this forum - we are the experts of our own care.

Hi,
Dr Bernstein gives some tips and exercises to deal with this problem in his book but I'm not at home so can't check. He has a forum with tips on too, Google should find it.
Sorry I can't help more.
Best wishes
Angie

Hi Kate,

I am a type1 pumper and a few years ago was also diagnosed with gastroparesis .. . . . what a pain!!! To be honest I was trying so hard to control everything that I think that was my personal problem. I was up for a transplant and as soon as I had all that news I just basically 'gave up' seeing as all my efforts were resulting in nothing at all. As soon as I did that everything changed and a few months later . . no more gastroparesis and off the transplant list.

Still can't figure it all out. Not saying by any means that you are overly stressing about your condition like I was or wouldnt advise anyone to follow this advice as I myself have to obviously put loads of effort into managing my condition, but sometimes it's good to just chill out.

Good luck with it all. x

Just wondering if your hypothyroidism is properly treated?

As hypothyroidism can also cause gastroparesis.
