Well I think she may well not come back, which is a real shame. She's a fighter yes and can be bolshy but so what, she's game to try almost anything. And she's not afraid to say if something isn't working.
As for newbies well seeing as T2 is mostly in the older range of people i think we are fully grown enough to take what people say and either run with it or ignore it.
We certainly don't need patronising.

OK, whist I respect the right, in normal circumstances, of a Moderator or Administrator to have their decisions accepted without public debate you have brought up your actions against Defren I feel no constraint in therefore questioning your decisions.

I can not claim to have read every single post made by Defren but I have read most of them and in those I have seen Defren has only ever voiced her beliefs in reference to her own method of controlling her Diabetes and unless you can produce a post she has made that shows she has tried to force a member to do the same as her then I am really disappointed in you Benedict as I never thought you would stoop so low as to fabricate reasons to justify your decision to suspend her.

Patronised !!!! that sums up exactly how I feel dawn.

If Defren chooses to leave this forum, and I sincerely hope she doesn't though I wouldn't blame her if she did, then it will be this forums loss.

We joined the forum at the same time and though Defren refuses to sugar pill her views I have never, ever, seen her try to force her dietary choices or use undue scare tactics on any member, either new or of longer standing. Her being openly accused of doing so is wrong on so many levels. I suspect that she spoke her mind one too many times when being chastised in private for refusing to kowtow to the forum hierarchy and in this latest debacle she stood up for herself against someone who then decided to teach her a lesson for daring, yet again, to argue her case after, as I understand it, a post she made was actually deleted.

If I am now penalised for voicing my opinion so be it.

The problem here is that Admin compared to the rest of us spend very little time reading all the forum posts.. Ben himself would be the first to admit that he hasn't been around much lately... thus how he can make a decision about someone else's opinions and beliefs is beyond me..

Further when those views are supported by the member-base in general further undermines people respect in the admin of this forum when they make decisions that the users find questionable at best... unfair and unjust at worse.. This could have been resolved by an apology or backing down yesterday.. but this has been escalated by harsh moderating and thread locking / deleting.. now people really are at the end of their tethers..

[I dont see how 'if you dont control your blood sugars, you may get complications' can be softened. That is a fact and should be stated as such. Personally, I dont think it should be dumbed down. I see nothing wrong with cold hard facts. I'd rather have the truth than a load of wishy washy nonsense.

Ashleigh, I am pleased you wrote the above words. I recently attended a course at our diabetic clinic run by the Consultant, Specialist Nurse, and Dietician/Fitness Adviser. The participants ranged from a diabetic person of ten years standing to one newly diagnosed three months previously. Complications were dealt with by the Consultant with cold hard facts and not at all dumbed down. It was made quite clear that if we did not manage our diabetes control efficiently that complications would eventually happen.

Good, thats how it should be told, in my opinion.

I have unbanned Defren

One of the reasons why I felt a ban was necessary did not take the context into account well. There were other reasons and I'd felt it necessary to delete 2 posts leading up to the ban so it was not completely unwarranted. Was it overly harsh? Yes, I think it probably was.

I don't wish to cause upset and resentment on anyone and I think more harm will be done if stubbornness is allowed to govern.

So my highly unfair ban has been lifted. I am DISGUSTED by the heavy handed tactics used, and THEN to carry on blackening my name while I had no recourse. I am considering my future on this forum and it is no way a given I will return.

Much love and many thanks for all the support I have had. You really are a terrific bunch of people.

Yes, Defren I believe it was heavy handed. I also unintentionally took a post out of context which was certainly bad on my part. I'm sorry for this.

However, whilst the length of suspension was heavy handed, I felt and still feel a suspension was warranted because I'd needed to remove 2 posts from you on one thread and you didn't take my feedback on board.

As you have now apologized publicly as well as privately I accept your apology - thank you.

Let's just clear something up first. The post you banned me for was NOT made yesterday, and had NOTHING to do with what was going on. I PM'd you and told you I stood by the post I made, yes it was strongly worded, but I STILL stand by it. In hindsight I could have said what I did in a more measured way, but I didn't, my bad. It was wrong of you to use a post I made a while back to ban me with. Put yourself in my shoes, how would you have felt? Then to top it all, you PM'd me knowing full well I couldn't read it.

I am prepared to put this to bed here and now, but I will only do so with a clean name!

Joanna.

I quite gree Carty . I am very glad that common sense has prevaailed nd I must comngrtulate Benedict on having the guts to reverse his decision because it ofen does take guts.

I m sure tht Pneu's nalysis is right in that as you canno be roind all the time Benedict It is possible tht you hve the wrong impression.

People are lways posting here wht mounts to disinformation. Keep on sying something long enough and someone will believe it.

I think people holding different strong views hve mnged to get along together remrkably well , althogh this may not lwys hve been the case.
Occasionlly someone waning to cause trouble will post n unsubstantiated criticism . These tend to be remebered and given more importance han they deserve.

Defren is a lively person and an asset to the forum. Of course she may appear sometimes s a loose cannon to some people who lack humour take everything literally but we all hve to remeber that we are not acting as HCPs but s individuals.

I m sure Defren's enthusiism nd generl redhededness is n inspirtion to mny nd bright light in the surrounding dibetic murkiness.

So that is one problem settled.
I do hope that Borofergie will not be discouraged from posting in his own inimitble style by the prospect of lifetime ban?
People like Defren nd Borofergie can;t be kept down they must be allowed to be themmselves. They inspire us all.
Lastly I do hope we are not obliged to watch censorship of anything which may upset those of a nervous disposition.

Anyhow I am very glad that the ban has been lifted , hope Defren returns and comngraatulaions to Benedict on doing the sensible thing

Hi Jo, I will save the 'welcome back' happy dance for when you have decided whether you are willing to take your coat off and roll up your sleeves in order to get back to work helping all those needing your brand of straight talking. :)

Benedict, I am pleased to see that you have been willing to listen to the forum members. Backing down as you have done takes guts. Maybe the use of the 'edit button' could be considered rather than the heavy handed use of the 'delete button' ? Whole posts/threads disappearing without explanation will always lead to suspicion and ill feeling.
