A trip to the hospital...

Hi all

I just thought I'd share my day with you today...

I had a hospital appointment today regarding my diabetes of course..

Firstly I had to walk over 1 hour and a half in the freezing cold and slipped on ice this morning.. (not so great) anyway I get to the hospital and waited for my turn.. Had a nice chat with my nurse who took my measurements before I saw my specialist and she sake if I had lost weight.. Now I've been battling this with the hospital for a while and I didn't feel or think I had lost any... Anyway blood pressure fine, I've not gotten any taller and well it was that dreaded time to get on the scales only to find that I've lost 10lbs!!!!! Now I've lost this in a month since being ing 500g of Metformin which has made me happy as some may know I've been trying very hard to lose weight since putting it on from insulin...

Time to see the specialist who congratulated me and was happy for me... Down to the nitty gritty bloods came back found out that I am absolutely 100% type 1 which I guess is good news in a way... Also found that my HB1AC is 7 which my specialist said is spot on for being type one and only being diagnosed 8 months... Also my insuman basal insulin has been sorted out again morning injection is no longer only evening injection at 8units and novo rapid is 3 units morning and lunch and 4 units for dinner..

I now also have slow release Metformin still 500g and 1 morning and bedtime...

And my specialist has said to have what I like Christmas day just up my novo rapid a few units as it's only one day of the year that I'll be doing that... So all in all it has been a great day at the hospital :)

Thanks for all of those who advised me to ask for Metformin SR!! Your all stars!!! :)

Hi Kerry, well done on the weight loss   It's good that you have a proper diagnosis so that you now will get the correct treatment for it, you will feel so much better as things settle into a routine.

I don't envy you on that walk though, it was absolutely freezing when I ventured out this afternoon. ((shiveringsmiliee))

Thanks guys!!! It also helps that everyone on here is so supportive!!! :D

Ann it was so cold I think a frozen smile with some icicles hanging off of the nose :D or a painful face if you ended up on your bum like me... Lol,

Yes daibell my specialist is brilliant!! She only took me on a month ago and I'd been through so much with different people my insulin was at the wrong levels.. I was pushed from doctor to doctor and wasn't getting no where she has kicked everything up the bum and got me on the right track.. Which now finally I feel I'm in control of my diabetes.. :D

Thank you mazbee I will be Definately keeping up the work, now I feel great about my diabetes it gives me strength to push myself further to doing better and losing more weight :D

Big thank you'd again!!!!
