Weird injections

Hi all,

I may have asked this before but if I did, I didn’t get an answer.

Sometimes, maybe like once a month, when I inject something weird happens.

I use Novorapid and Levemir flexpens. When I inject, there feels like some sort of resistance and it doesn’t just click in nicely. Anyway, when this happens, I pull the needle out and all (or most) of what I have ‘injected’ flies into the air when I retract the needle. Not a major issue just wondered if anyone else has had it happen?

Hi Joel

I'm not sure what might be going on.

Do you perform an 'air shot' first before injecting?

Also, do you use a new needle for each injection?

I used to get this in the past most especially if the injection was painful. I do not seem to get them nowadays by making sure I first pinch up a decent amount of skin I then inject at right angles so the pen goes straight in to a fatty area like around my belly. I also now make sure I count properly to ten before withdrawing rather than cheat by doing even numbers
Putting all the above together seems to completely eliminated the "blocked needle" feeling. I think it was mostly due to not going deep enough with the needles
