Hi for the last few weeks I haven't been able to control my levels, they will go up and down from normal 4 readings up to 18 or down to 1 with no warnings. Nothing has changed apart from a little more stress. What would you advise doing. Was supposed to being seeing consultant 7th dec but was cancelled

For real? Down to 1?

On the couple of occasions where my BGL has fallen towards 2, I've felt decidedly unwell.

I don't know enough about your situation to be an alarmist, but I'd definitely be looking to talk to the diabetes nurse at my local surgery in the first instance. I suspect that, given the time of year and shortage of cover, I'd be on to the local A&E to get someone to call me back tout suite.

So, glucose tablets constantly on hand to counteract the lows and ten minutes brisk movement (contraction and stretching of muscles soak up glucose without insulin) and plenty of water to tackle the highs, wait 15 mins, test - repeat as necessary.
